Fear of foreign juggernauts speeds up China's anti-monopoly legislation
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/chinaeconomymonopoly

BEIJING (AFP) - China's glacially slow effort to introduce an anti-monopoly law is suddenly being sped up by concerns that foreign multinationals are gradually dominating key markets.

Officials have agonized over the fine details of the rules for nearly two decades but the idea of Microsoft-style juggernauts rolling ashore has lent the process a new sense of urgency, the China Business Weekly reported.

Now, the anti-monopoly draft could be turned into law by the end of 2005 if the process goes smoothly, the newspaper said, without giving sources.

There are increasing concerns that multinationals have gained control of certain industries in China and such a law is "desperately" needed to rein in their power, it said.

3.  the WTO only votes against the US
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 03:12 AM by Robert Oak
it's a rigged game, 148 countries, most 3rd world...
US gets 1 vote.

but who really is in charge are multinationals...

but the other guy had a strong point...China is a monopoloy of itself
it's running the show and already multinationals gave away their intellectual property shared manufacturing with a "state" sponsored
company and so on...
