NYSE calls emergency meeting
http://msnbc.com/news/967497.asp?0cv=CB10

The New York Stock Exchange called an emergency meeting of its board of directors Wednesday amid rising furor over the $140 million payout given to Chairman Richard Grasso, CNBC reported.

The hastily called meeting reflected the rapid pace of developments in the scandal and came a day after four states that control large pension funds called for Grasso to quit. Earlier Grasso had called a board meeting for Sept. 24 to discuss the controversy.

In addition to calls for Grasso’s resignations some activists are calling for potentially sweeping reforms at the exchange, including the resignation of the directors who approved the pay package.
