Paul Pardoel, a 35-year-old former Australian air force officer who had been serving with the British Royal Air Force since 2002, was one of 10 servicemen killed when a British Hercules C-130 crashed north of Baghdad.
Pardoel's mother Margaret told Australian Broadcasting Corporation radio she was angry her son's life had been wasted in what she regarded as an unnecessary war and criticised US President George W. Bush (news - web sites).
"I don't think this should've gone on," she said Tuesday. "It's just cold-blooded murder. Look at all those young American boys that have been slaughtered, and there's more and more happening.
"I don't like the man (Bush), I just feel very worried about what he's doing."
