Bush to Leave White House Ahead of Storm
20 minutes ago Add Politics to My Yahoo!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) prepared to leave Washington for his Camp David retreat on Wednesday evening, a day early, to beat the expected arrival of Hurricane Isabel, the White House said.

Bush was to leave the White House by helicopter for a meeting at Camp David with Jordan's King Hussein on Thursday.

He originally planned to travel to the retreat in the Maryland mountains on Thursday, but forecasters say the storm by then will threaten Washington with high winds and heavy rain. Camp David also lies in the projected storm path.

"It's because of the hurricane," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said of Bush's' early departure.

25. Brave Sir George
Bravely George ran away,
Bravely ran away, away.

When danger reared its ugly head,
he bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir George turned about
And gallantly, he chickened out.

Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir George.

30. Not a coward, but stupid; Camp David more dangerous than DC
If the storm track they are predicting holds, the brunt of it will be west of DC in the mountains, the wind will die over land, but not the rain, and the rain in the mountain valleys will cause serious flooding, and that is probably by far the worst danger this hurricane will present, except right on the shore where it comes ashore.

Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 09:36 PM by JohnyCanuck

Doesn't look like Dubya's thinks his Xtian buddy Pat is up to the job. The Bible says if you have faith you can move mountains. Diverting a hurricane should be elementary stuff for a man of faith like Pat "Diamond Mines" Robertson.

...his 'Marine One' helicopter. After all, it could get blown away by Isabel. So, the military will secretly remove it from Junior's 'toy chest'...and, store it at a great distance out of harm's way. So, what will Junior do to occupy his play time...fly a kite?

Whilst standing on the white house lawn in 70 mile per hour winds the Vice pResindent declared,

'There is no storm, the perceived high winds are just fabrications by the left wing media and further more anyone who says there is a storm obviously is un-american'

He then went on to claim that black is white and promised to take care on the next pedestrian crossing he comes across.
