Iran ready to sign key deal with Russia on nuclear plant
MOSCOW: Iran said yesterday it will sign a key deal with Russia on the return of spent fuel that will finally let Moscow launch the Islamic state’s first nuclear power plant, despite new saber-rattling from Washington.

Iran’s ambassador Gholamreza Shafei told reporters that an agreement on the return to Russia of spent nuclear fuel may be reached during a visit to Iran by Russia’s atomic energy chief Alexander Rumyantsev later this month.

“Rumyantsev will visit Iran at the end of February to discuss this question,” Shafei said.

“Tehran is ready to sign a commercial agreement on this issue,” he said in reference to the return of the nuclear fuel.

1. I wonder what this will do to Russian/American relations...
Let alone how this will affect stability in the middle-east...Namely Iran and Israel.

3. Well you can bet Russia and/or Iran won't take it sitting down.
And we can hardly spare the army...If they reinstate the draft you can bet there will be chaos in america too.

4. I imagine sooner...
...Rather than later, our "fearless leader" will attack a place that will have country(ies) willing to do more than talk or look the other way.

* In semi-related news, I stumbled upon a blog that shows Iranians having interests like many kids here in the states - heavy metal...

6. You know, this is really a sad day for us
Our leaders are trying to stop Iran from improving the lives of its citizens. They want to go to war over the fact that Iran has ANY nuclear program.

This would be like another country going to war with the United States because we have nuclear power plants.

As a student of engineering, I have to say that this is counter to all development plans or philosophies that I have been presented. I really hope that this gets the world's attention.
