Marines land in Haiti for aid mission
From correspondents in Port-Au-Prince
February 02, 2005

FIFTY US Marines have landed in Gonaives, northern Haiti, on an aid mission expected to last about four months, a US embassy statement said.

The Marines were dispatched from the USS Saipan, and will be “exclusively tasked to humanitarian work,” the statement said.

The number of Gonaives-based Marines will grow to 200 by mid-February under the mission's terms. <snip>

... Mr Bush did not need the full might of the US army to strike against Haiti; a platoon of Marines was enough to blackmail the President to leave. They thought they had persuaded him to resign, a mistake which has cost them dearly in legitimacy ...

4. Ummmm,...this is the perpetuation of the BFEE "fuckin' up Haiti".
Haiti is now oppressed by the BFEE,...being oppressed by the BFEE.

It's a very sad state of affairs.

2. Do You Mean USAID mission with
Roger Noriega leading the charge, or perhaps they brought Immanuel Constant back from Queens so he and Guy Phillipe could bring some more Colombian coca to the Western Markets.

3. Right. I believe that. If Haiti is smart they will insist they drop their
aid supplies and get the hell out, like Indonesia did.

It's OUR fault that they are in this state.

6. hmm, nascent democratic movement must be emerging...
otherwise why would we send troops to stamp it out?

or maybe we really are sending our best trained troops, an elite cadre of muscle men, professional killers like all soldiers are (and that's the real the job description. ain't babysittin' or cleanin' windows.), to provide... humanitarian aid. y'know, aid that couldn't possibly be done by wimpy peace corp people, or some insipid explanation like that. yeah... probably that one is the truth. uh-huh... a specialized train corp of people are off to do something they are not specialized in. exactly. i can believe that.

why do they hate our troops? why do they abuse them so? war really is a racket.
