Russia’s state-owned Rosneft Oil Company announced on Tuesday, Feb. 1, that it began deliveries of crude oil to China via railroad.

The company’s representative, quoted by RIA Novosti, said that in February the deliveries will amount to 200,000 tons, while overall supplies in 2005 are set to equal 4 million tons.

“The export will be carried out through the Angarks petrochemical company, where the crude oil will be poured into railroad tankers and then sent off to China,” a Rosneft official said. He also added that 50,000 tons had already been sent to China.

3. I'm glad that Western companies didn't get Yukos.
Beating down the Western oil companies might do much to maintain peace. If they gain a foothold in Russia, then come the pipelines and greater geostrategic ambitions.
