Steelworkers Endorse Howard Dean for DNC Chair
Steelworkers Endorse Howard Dean for DNC Chair
Wednesday February 2, 12:57 pm ET

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The United Steelworkers of America (USWA) today endorsed Governor Howard Dean's candidacy for the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

"As a governor and presidential candidate, Howard Dean has experienced first hand the urgent need of working families for decent-paying jobs and affordable health care - priorities all too often lost on those who spend their time living in the rarefied air of the Beltway Bubble," said USWA International President Leo W. Gerard.

"We've had enough of Democrats whose answers to the weighty problems facing working families smack of 'Republican-lite.' We need leadership from somebody like Governor Dean who speaks with conviction about how outrageously the great majority of Americans are being short changed by an Administration which brags that its base constituency is the 'haves and have mores.'"

The Dean endorsement resulted from a unanimous vote of the USWA's International Executive Board.

9. Awesome
As a citizen of Pittsburgh, someone who has made phone calls during the last election from the Steelworkers Union building, and a Dean supporter I am proud that the USWA has moved to endorse a progressive future. Go DEAN!

12. SEIU uses a participatory democratic method to choose endorsees
They let the members vote on who to endorse. I don't know when they are voting. I'm not a member.

11. Here's Dean's mandate for reforming the Dem Party from the ground up and
shaping the DNC Chair as HE sees fit...
