BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Shiite Muslim who heads the ticket expected to have won the largest number of parliamentary seats in Iraq (news - web sites)'s election indicated Wednesday that his group wants the post of prime minister in the new government.

Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim also said in an interview with The Associated Press that the new government will include Sunni Arabs, many of whom stayed away from the polls Sunday either out of fear of rebel attacks or because of a clerical boycott call.

3. This is excellent news.
I would much prefer the UIA head things than the nation-selling Allawi. If there is to be any peace in Iraq, it must come from a government that is not a mere puppet.

4. We will see what this "election" amounts to soon.
Bush/PNAC didn't invade a country just to be told what to do by their politicians, unless they are on the take.

6. A lot of these "Shiite leaders" recently came back from Iran

Where they were exiles during Husseins rule. Others were insurgants in the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq--in the underground militia in supported by Iran. What we hear are these leaders making Enlish languange statements for the benefit of our press. They seem to be against the insurgants--but really they are part of the insurgancy. But after Sadr's uprising against the occupation sizzled out in Najaf, these militias decided to mainly suspend military actions and see if any other options would open for them a "Democratic Iraq". They say for OUR press that they don't want an Islamic Republic like Iran--but that is what many of these men have been fighting for there whole lives! It's the only idea of "Democracy" that has meaning for them...and Iran certainly is one of the few functioning democracies in the Islamic world.

Meanwhile, the Bush Administration is deciding whether to bomb Iran or have Israel bomb Iran for us. China, Russia and a bunch of other countries are lining up behind Iran on that one, but that won't stop our neo-con nut-cases in Washington.

Who is counting the votes in Iraq now? Obviously, the "counters" decide everything...and they're taking a while to decide. Do you really think the U.S. occupation will let an Iranian backed faction win? Unless they really are stupid enough to be fooled by a few disengenuous public statements that fooled the U.S. press.

The whole U.S. "news" industry has become increadibly gullible, misleading and clueless about what is really going on in the Middle East. They only get away with their dangerous idiocy because the Bush Administration is no better.

Who was the poet who said something about "ignorant armies clash by night?"
