NEW YORK (Reuters) - Media conglomerate News Corp. on Wednesday said its quarterly profit rose 80 percent, boosted by strong DVD sales of the film "Day After Tomorrow" and advertising sales at its cable networks.

Sales of "The Star Wars Trilogy" and "I, Robot" boosted second-quarter operating income of the movies division by 57 percent. A strong roster of summer releases paid off in the home video market in the year-end period, the company said.
"Day After Tomorrow," which grossed over $500 million in global box office sales, contributed heavily to film unit sales and profits. It accounted for 9 million of the 25 million DVDs the company shipped of its summer 2004 releases.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=568&ncid=749&e=4&u=/nm/20050202/bs_nm/media_newscorp_earns_dcSonuvabitch.
