Bush Emphasizes Diplomacy for Iran,North Korea
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 11:30 PM by ckramer
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush, who three years ago said Iran and North Korea were part of an "axis of evil," on Wednesday emphasized diplomacy in dealing with the two countries.

Bush called Iran the "world's primary state sponsor of terror" and reiterated his accusations that the country is striving to develop nuclear weapons, a charge denied by Iran. He also promised to "stand with" the Iranian people in their quest for liberty, a veiled jab at the republic's ruling clerics.

But Bush, addressing Congress in his annual State of the Union address, talked of multilateral efforts to settle the differences with Iran.

"We are working with European allies to make clear to the Iranian regime that it must give up its uranium enrichment program and any plutonium reprocessing, and end its support for terror," Bush said.

2. Propaganda 101, #2
When you plan to do something but do not want to generate questions about it, say you want to do the opposite. When the time comes to do what you want to do, you will always be able to argue that you did your best to avoid it, the proof being that you claimed you did not want to do it. Works every time with uncritical, uninformed and therefore gullible populations.

7. And that you were forced into it by the actions of the other party
You literally had no choice, they MADE you do it, usually because of their non-compliance with ultimatums (sometimes which are literally impossible to comply with, such as proving the negative of having no WMDs).

6. Talking about
GUNBOAT DIPLOMACY

The real core of the Federal Government's power has always been force. Those intellectuals who intend to manipulate history for their own ends dismiss the republic's true history of deploying lethal force, to put a friendly face on an institution that has always acted with a heavy hand.
