Two marines killed in Iraq

TWO US marines have been killed in action in Iraq's conflict-torn western province of Al-Anbar.

"A marine assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force was killed in action yesterday bringing to two the number of marines who died while conducting security and stability operations in the Al Anbar province," the US military said in a statement.

Al-Anbar is a huge predominantly Sunni area that stretches westwards from the outskirts of Baghdad to the Saudi, Jordanian and Syrian borders, and includes the restive cities of Fallujah and Ramadi.

The death raised the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq to 1438 since the US-led invasion of March 2003, according to Pentagon figures.

I believe the original article here means one from 2-2 and one today
2-3. That brings the total to 1441 dead.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) A suicide car bomber struck a
foreign convoy (guess which foreign country?) on
Baghdad's dangerous airport road Thursday, destroying
several vehicles, Iraqi police said. No casualties
were immediately reported.

Destroying several vehicles-say just 2 people in
each,
that's 4.

Two (Why say "several" and then "two") sport utility vehicles in the three vehicle convoy
were destroyed. SUVs are commonly used by foreign
contractors working in Iraq.

Helicopters were seen evacuating some casualties,
witnesses said. The U.S. military had no immediate
comment.
This is new for AP to give opposing view to
US BS statements.
---
Cargo plane pilots in Iraq routinely use evasive
tactics, including flying low and fast. "Yes, there'll beincreased
SAM threats to C-130's, you bet," General Jumper said. "But
you also have 100 casualties a month in
convoys."

Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 09:07 PM by jmcgowanjm
We've got the Real number now.

Marines fail to make January quota.
I bet if they offered free Meth they'd be able
to do it. And free med care for dependants
would seal the deal.

And I think they keep saying car bomb to cover rocket
missile attacks.

Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff, declined to give McCain an estimate of the size of
the insurgency (200000 Iraqis, 40000 RepGuard) in public
testimony
said there were about 1,000 "foreign
fighters." -This guy is insane if he actually believes this
(only foreign fighters worth mentioning)and if he keeps saying it the cognitive dissonance
in his brain will make him...

10. Don't worry their parents will be comforted a Ex-Iraqi chubby lady...
who hasn't been to Iraq since the late sixties. But if you are expecting comfort from the president, forget it.

This war sucks, always has, always will. I hate all that are involved in putting these troops in danger.
