(Bush visit) Fargo Commissioner On 'No-Ticket' List
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 11:33 AM by Steve_DeShazer
Feb 3, 2005 8:54 am US/Central
Fargo, N.D. (AP) A Fargo city commissioner says she's outraged that she's on a list of 42 people from the area who were not allowed tickets for President Bush's speech today.

White House spokesman Jim Morrell and Don Larson, a spokesman for Governor Hoeven, say they don't know anything about such a list.

But The Forum newspaper says the list was given to workers at the two Fargo sites for distributing tickets. It included people who were critical of Bush or the war in Iraq, or in support of Democratic policies.

Fargo Commissioner Linda Coates says she has no idea why she would be on a list other than the fact that she's been outspoken in her left-leaning beliefs.

2. and tomorrow, in Tampa,
there will be a 'conversation' with ** regarding social security.

>snip<
And an e-mail soliciting volunteers Monday shows one way they find the right people.

Recipients of the e-mail sent out to employees at Raymond James were asked to explain how they wanted Social Security changed - not if they wanted it changed.

The request asks those willing to participate to explain what Social Security means to them and provide a short story about how Social Security has impacted their lives.
>snip<

Susan Hartman, a Raymond James financial planning consultant, who belongs to the Securities Industry Association, sent out the e-mail searching for volunteers Monday. Company spokeswoman Tracey Bustamante said the association, not the company, was soliciting volunteers.

The Securities Industry Association, an industry group that represents 600 securities firms, tries to "build and maintain public trust and confidence in the securities markets," according to its Web site. Its members include investment banks, broker-dealers and mutual fund companies, all of whom could benefit from Bush's plan to create accounts.

3. She got in. List blamed on "overzealous" staffer
Sorta like: Oh one of the *more* rabid Nazis with no concept of representative democracy did it- Sorry-ee :grr:

snip>
I just had a followup call with Fargo City Commission Linda Coates and her status at the Bush Fargo event this morning.

She was let into the event without any major incidence, but was spotted by a staffer (she wasn't sure if the staffer was from the White House or a local, but she made it sound like he or she was in some offical capacity) who blamed the whole "blacklist" on overzealousness by another staff member.

Well ... Bless Commissioner Coates for standing up and not caving by deciding to not attend.

Now if we could just do something about the lies about to be told to the residents of Fargo by their President.
