Barring Gays From Adopting Not Homophobic Lawmaker Says
by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff

(Little Rock Arkansas) Rep. Bob Adams (D-Sheridan) says that his bill to ban the state from placing children in "homosexual homes" isn’t meant to discriminate against gays.

<snip>

"Nobody, either homosexual or heterosexual, has a fundamental right to adopt," Thomas said. "In foster care and adoption, the state is actually creating families. It’s a very serious responsibility."

Thomas told the lawmakers that research that says that gays make good parents is flawed.

"Common sense should tell us that a home with two homosexual men or two homosexual women is not going to be the same as home with a married mom and dad," Thomas said.

1. Why not just ban blacks from adopting as well? I mean, we all know
that they're all just thugs and all their kids will turn up in gangs and die a young death.

THIS IS FUCKING DISCRIMINATION! Why can't people see this?

3. What about single parent adoptions?
"Common sense should tell us that a home with two homosexual men or two homosexual women is not going to be the same as home with a married mom and dad," Thomas said.

Yeah, and single-parent families are normal right? They get to adopt kids.

4. Common sense should also tell this asshole that a home with two loving men
or two loving women as parents is a whole lot better than a home with abusive heteros. What the hell is his point if not being a homophobe?

5. I am a lesbian and I adopted two brothers four years ago
And I know quite a few gays (and lesbians) who have also adopted children who are older, disabled etc - and I have found them to be tremendous parents. These kids are challenging and are "outsiders" - it makes perfect sense to me that gays and lesbians have what it takes to meet these children's needs.

7. Well, as a gay parent
I can tell you that my three sons adopted out of foster care are faring much better in my and my partner's care than they did in the care of their heterosexual birth parents.

So, I guess heterosexual parents don't ALWAYS trump gay parents.

Stupid, fucking idiots.

8. One of the regrets my partner and I share
is that we never were able to adopt children.

Today happens to be our 32nd anniversary.

We've had pets. But, we would have loved to have raised children.

Kudos to all gay and lesbian folks who were able to adopt. The childrens' lives they've touched is very special and should be recognized as such.

To all adoptive parents, WE LOVE YOU!

9. I'm a hetero adoptive mom
and I find this reprehensible. I see way too many dysfunctional hetero families and I am way too familiar with the damage that can be done. Kids need parents who love each other and who are devoted to their kids. Sexual orientation has NOTHING to do with it.

12. "In foster care and adoption, the state is actually creating families?
Well actually the State is usually called upon to rescue children in these cases of 'families'...it's not like the good old days, where babies and kids are left at church doors or with ailing grandparents...who have to take them to church doors...because they barely have enough for themselves.

In Ye Olde Times, that system proved to be inadequate and so things like 'child protection', social welfare and 'rights' were invented by goblins, warlocks and 'liberals' to destroy the family, make homosexuality commonplace and spit on good family values...which proved to be inadequate...etc etc

22. since most abused children come from heterosexual homes...
doesn't common sense dictate....

there's no such thing as ''common sense'' when it comes to an issue like this -- one is an informed, civilized, educated person --
or a barbarian, like thomas, burning down the gates to a reasoned society.

26. What a jackass
Obviously he doesn't realize (or care) that gay & lesbian couples often adopt children that would otherwise languish in foster care--children of color, babies born addicted to drugs, older children, etc. These children are loved and cared for instead of being left to rot in the system until they're 18 and forced to live on their own, many times with few if any life skills.

I really fucking hate this country sometimes. :argh:

30. I have two
lesbian friends who adopted a child from China. One of the women was teacher of the year in a large Texas city and the other one works for IBM. Their child is a wiz kid, and is very well adjusted. Hey Adams, you don't know what your talking about. People please tell me when we'll be rid of these men!

32. And of course NO HOME is better than a same-sex-parent home.
Asshats.

Yeah, you know what, a home with two men or two women isn't going to be the same as a home with a heterosexual couple. That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be WORSE.

God, when you think of the children in this country who wind up abused, neglected, manipulated, scarred for life, molested, and everything else by their heterosexual parents...but at least their parents aren't GAY! Cruel, maybe, or too fucked up to do anything but fuck up their children, or so embroiled in a death struggle with each other that they use the kids as weapons...but that's still better than being raised in a home with two loving parents in a stable committed relationship who belong to the same gender!

Thanks, Adams. Makes me feel soooooo good to be a Democrat.

@#$!,
