Palmer throws support to Dean

TRENTON -- Mayor Doug Palmer endorsed former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean yesterday as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

The support came days after former Denver mayor Wellington Webb ended his bid to head the DNC. Palmer had backed Webb until his pullout.

"Howard Dean is a man with a committed record to the grassroots, a place where mayors work, lead and engage every day,’’ said Palmer.

Palmer, president of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors, delivered the endorsement a week before top Democrats meet in Washington, D.C. to select their new leader.
