Kennedy steps up criticism against Bush over war on terror
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/02/04/kennedy_steps_up_criticism_against_bush_over_war_on_terror/

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy criticized President Bush Friday for not mentioning Osama bin Laden in his State of the Union speech, and said Sunday's historic election in Iraq could escalate the violence there.

"Sunday's election is not a cure for the violence and instability," Kennedy, D-Mass., said in a speech at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. "Unless the Sunni and all the other communities in Iraq believe they have a stake in the outcome and a genuine role in drafting the new Iraqi constitution, the election could lead to greater alienation, greater escalation, and greater death -- for us and for the Iraqis."

And he complained that although Bush mentioned terror 27 times in his State of the Union address, he never mentioned the man who launched the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"What world is he living in?" Kennedy said. "He started a war we never should have fought. He stopped fighting a war we hadn't won, and left our greatest enemy in the world still at large, planning his next 9/11."

1. Sadly, half the the people are idiots so they will not see....

3. Kind of sad, too, isn't it, that the people
in other countries are a lot smarter than people in the USA?

2. Love ta hear the old lion roar!
If there's anyone in a position to ramp up the criticism of this absurd and useless Bush administration, it's Ted Kennedy. What's the risk? He's going to lose the support of moderate republicans? :D :D :D I'm really counting on him to play a role in getting our party back on its feet, back in the game, and taking the fight to the repukes at long last.

4. Rethug pundits that slameed Kennedy are..
hypocrites. When Sen. Kennedy called for 12K troop wthdrawl the pundits acused him of being an aid to the Insurgency in Iraq, yet Rumsfailed just announced a troop draw down. Of course there will be a draw down since an extra 10K were brought in the bolster security for the Iraqi election and those troops will be returning to the U.S. while 130K will remain. Sen. Kennedy said over a year ago that the Iraqi invasion was a fraud hatched in Crawford, Tx. Now we know that he spoke the truth. He continues to speak the truth. Rethugs cringe when they hear truth. Truth is like holy water to vampires. Rethugs are vampires feeding on blood to enrich themselves.

5. I think teddy's getting
a little tired. Anybody else hear WRKO New England radio with howie Carr?? He actually said, and I heard it, there will be a vote on Mr Gonzalez, I think the principle kind of issue is that torture is an American Value!! I was at work and there was a collective howl.He obviously didn't know he did it because he kept going saying torture isn't accepted blah, blah. It's not that long ago that he said "Osama Obama!!!" I like the guy too but he's too easy of a target. Has he always been so Blooper Prone???

7. IKennedy's comment was a jab as Gonzales' comments that US
policy would reflect American values. Kennedy was suggesting that Gonzales must see torture as an American value.

10. At least he didn't get "punk'd" by a pretzel
as did the creature who is humorously referred to as our "president".

I see we have another little person (chattel) who cannot tell who his real enemy is, and who is his real friend. That's why the little people (chattels) always get "punk'd". Enjoy--for some, serfdom is a proper system.

20. Doesn't Teddy know we can't find Osama
because he's hiding? What does he want bushit to do - LOOK for him or something? We've got so many other countries to destroy...oops I mean bring freedom to.

I think Teddy's tired, too. Tired of *'s bullshit. I hope he speaks out loudly and often.

22. Let me remind you of something ... 5/69 ... Hamburger Hill and Teddy K.
AKA the battles of Ap Bia Mountain or Hill 937. This was a brutal two-week battle, and futile. It ended up with a moonscape and our abandonment of that oh-so-important hill in Vietnam's valley of the shadow of death (A Shau). Anyway, it spurred Ted Kennedy to go on the floor of the US Senate almost 36 years ago and give a denunciation of the Vietnam War that is credited, by some, with really igniting the anti-war movement. Like MLK and JFK and Clinton, Teddy had his peccadillo's. However, his Hamburger Hill speech raised the consciousness that put an end to that god-damed war. Maybe passion in the heart is always connected to the loins. Anywhere else it matters not.

S-3
Passionate egotism, "W" style.

But if you will stick your nose in some books about that battle and the politics at home, you will find it. Sorry. I am relying on my nearly indelible, almost photographic memory of the history of that war, especially between 1965 and 1975. I not only have immersed myself in the histories, perhaps ad nauseum, but I lived it too in 1970 and 1971. Meanwhile, I would start you off at the book, Hamburger Hill by Franco Zeffirelli. Then rent the movie.

Hell-on-earth - Ap Bai - Hamburger Hill - May 1969
On edit: Never forget.

30. Teddy K is one of the symbols of our new movement against the repubs
and their evils ways. He has a good heart when it comes to the soldiers of war, who die on foriegn soil as we go day by day living our lives. I watched Teddy's speech on C-Span and it moved me so that I started calling all the Senators to vote no against Gonzales. Teddy still can light up the room, it was a great speech. I am behind Teddy all the way, thank you Senator my hat off to you and your courage.
