1. See how vulnerable things are when private companies
operate things for the gov.

That public emailing is not worth a flip anyway. They never investigate anything you want them to, like election fraud.

5. F.B.I. shuts down e-mail system/possible security breach

WASHINGTON

F.B.I. SHUTS DOWN E-MAIL SYSTEM The F.B.I. shut down part of the e-mail system it uses to communicate with the public after a possible security breach in accounts used for "nonsensitive, nonsecure communications," the agency said. Bill Carter, a spokesman for the bureau, called it a minor incident that did not affect secure communications links, which are not connected to the affected network. The incident is under investigation. A spokesman for AT&T, which handles the affected part of the F.B.I.'s e-mail system, would not provide details. The announcement came the day after the F.B.I. announced that it would probably scrap a $170 million overhaul of its computer system.

Courtney C. Radsch (NYT)

(so, what does this mean exactly? or now what?)

7. There's a thread about this unfolding story on LBN somewhere
That thread has some additional posts with a little more info. The whole thing is very odd, imo.

I'll ask the mods to combine this post with the existing thread. Maybe things will be clearer next week on this story but I don't bet on it.

8. God only knows...
Now what? Probably updating their monitoring of "us." I asked my local server why I'm being charged an extra tax till this November. Their response was "can't tell you." I responded, "Nice, we have to pay an extra tax you're being taxed for by the govt?" Answer: "Well, kinda, sorta."

9. The "Secret" Tax -- WTF?
You have to give money to the government, but the government does not have to tell you what they are going to do with it.

What's wrong with this picture?

Any lurking Republicans, please answer in 25 words or less.

"We use these accounts to communicate with you folks, view internet sites, and conduct other non-sensitive bureau business such as sending out press releases," Special Agent Steve Lazarus, the FBI's media coordinator in Atlanta, said in an e-mail describing the problem.
