(WA) Election Challenge Hearing (Judge rules out revote!)
Edited on Fri Feb-04-05 08:01 PM by chascarrillo
From KIRO 710:

February 04, 2005

ELECTION CHALLENGE HEARING

BULLETIN: A Chelan County judge says he won't order re-vote in governor's race.

Earlier, the judge hearing the challenge to the election of Washington Governor Gregoire dismissed all the counties and county auditors from the case. The judge says the counties and auditors are not needed. That simplifies the case from 81 parties to four. The remaining parties are the Republicans suing the secretary of state and the Democrat and Libertarian parties who intervened. The hearing continues today in Wenatchee with Judge John Bridges expected to rule on two remaining questions raised by Democrats: Should the case be dismissed? And, should the judge rule out a revote as a possible remedy? Earlier Bridges ruled that the case is being properly heard in Chelan County Superior Court instead of the state Legislature or directly before the state Supreme Court. Republicans hope to go to a trial where they can argue they have uncovered enough problem votes to outweigh Gregoire's 129-vote margin of victory over Dino Rossi. The election challenge is expected to land eventually in the state Supreme Court where Republicans hope justices will order a revote.

From KING 5:

A Superior Court judge has ruled that even if Washington Republicans win their challenge of Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire's election, he will not order a new election. Details to come.

(On edit: clarified thread title. No revote, even if they win!)

The Republican Party Has No Integrity At All
The fact they even tried to pull something like this, especially after two fraudulent elections illustrates how ignoble they really are.

For the good Republicans: never ask us for a damn thing again. Not until you clean house.

11. GOOD Republicans? Not too many of them in power.
Not a SINGLE Republican senator voted NAY on Gonzales. That includes the often-praised Mr. McCain.

I really can't see any excuse for voting for Gonzales as AG. None. So much for being a tough guy with real integrity despite being a Republican. He sure didn't fight evil on this one. How can he be trusted again?

As I recall, the Republican Sec of State in Washington stood up for the rule of law in this Gregoire/Rossi election matter and has been battered by his party for it. So there still are a few out there, holding on by their fingernails. But for every one like him, there are lots of Blackwells.

Still, I hope the good Republicans in this case -- if there are any besides that WA Sec of State -- are praised and supported.

The Dem Party is in a very bad way, but the Repub Party is gone, eaten out from the inside and replaced by a mob of delusional criminals.

6. No USSC jurisdiction
Since this is a question relating to a state office, there is no federal question. Therefore, the State Supreme Court is the highest court that can hear this case.

8. I believe you're wrong on that one.
The federal constitution trumps a state constitution. Equal protection violation lawsuits can be brought against even state elections, if the states 'refuse to hear them'
