Rice warns Russia on democracy

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Poland
The US has been increasingly critical of Russia
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Russia must do more to show it is committed to democracy if it wants deeper relations with Western nations.

Speaking in advance of a meeting with the Russian foreign minister, Miss Rice said it was no secret that Washington had concerns.

She said Russia must show it is intent on strengthening the rule of law and permitting a free press..........

4. Condi is in denial
Russia must do more to show it is committed to democracy if it wants deeper relations with Western nations.

When she says "Western nations," she should not include the US in that mix. The EU has little in common w/the US these days.

16. Rice warns Russia in her shaky little voice...
Seriously, she sounds like a kindergartner talking whenever she opens her mouth. Can't they get her a voice coach? Every time she says something, it sounds like she's either scared to death, or lying, or both.

Oh, wait.

17. I guess that she's not counting on Russian oil and gas
to help blunt the effect of Peak Oil and declining natural gas production on this continent.

Russia has the largest gas reserves in the world. And the Euros know it.

I cannot believe how stupid this Dr. is. She seemingly has a mind about as flexible as GW*. She cannot break out of that binary, cold war mentality.

When we take back the House of Reps in 2006, I hope that we defund her office so that she doesn't have the funds to run around the world stirring up trouble for us.

20. Who care's what she says
Rice don't speak for the Western nations. Sure, Putinland is as czarist as allways, nothing new there, but Putin's a player, not a whacko asshole.

But they got the oil, they got the gas, and we euros depend on Russia. Realpolitik is realpolitik, there's general understanding about the mutual interests and the great strategic importance of EU-Russia relationships, which in fact outweights the importance of trans-Atlantic relations with Bushland. Especially Schröder has been active in building and nurturing relations with Putin. Putin plays pretty open and straight game, according to European standards, "you wan't this, I wan't this, let's make deal", so we give them nod on WTO, they sign Kyoto. No doubt eventually a deal will be cut for Russia to sell oil against euros.

36. The Bush Junta
probably thinks that having a black woman spouting threats is more effective than the Shrub spouting them. These vapid people need to be purged. I believe that within two years that the Bush Junta may meet an accident in the skies. The Amerikan Oligarchy are not going to allow these little Fascists to plunge Amerika into a Depression worse than the one in the '30s. The turn to Euros of Russia and China will be the last straw.

40. Eggs-actly.
Who gives a shit what she says? Answer = no one. They all know she's just running around, inflating her own fragile ego, talking up a storm while no one is listening.

No one cares. Conda-loser can talk all she wants.

Also, it was really a faux pas of Einstein to appoint her as Sec. of State. I just read that muslims do NOT like dealing with women, when it comes to politics, governance issues. It supposedly makes them angry.

Come to think of it, maybe he did do it on purpose. You just never know, with Bush.

39. Her much vaunted and reputed "expertise" lies somewhere in the era of
cold war Russia. She is way behind--but since she thinks she knows a lot about Russia, she spouts off the old talking points with which she is familiar, making it appear that indeed, she "knows her stuff"

She, a known liar, and countries knowing and aware of her continued lies and double speak, must surely be laughing at her behind her back.

They may play the male female game though, because it is inevitably disparaging , an actual insult, to this woman and her postion as conduit to Bush's ideas, and not her own. They will string her along, knowing full well how she lied and continues to lie.

I suspect they view her as a fawning, weak shill for Bush.

Her appointment means nothing to them, because it is built upon the fragile house of lies. She has no power, no standing, no respect from any of them , but they will play the game.
