Rumsfeld Says No Iraq Self-Security Date

Rumsfeld said Sunday that are too many unknown factors to be able to say when Iraqis will be able to handle internal security.

Citing two of Iraq's neighbors, Iran and Syria, Rumsfeld said, "We don't know the extent to which they're going to be unhelpful or helpful" to enabling Iraq to overcome the insurgency.


Also uncertain, Rumsfeld said, is the extent to which "the political process is going to tip people away from supporting insurgency or being on the fence to supporting the government."

"What you need to do is have the economic progress, the political progress which is going forward in such good style. And that will determine the level of the insurgency," Rumsfeld said. "And the level of the insurgency will determine the speed at which Iraqi security forces will be capable of managing that level of insurgency."


He acknowledged there were are lot of "ifs," but added, "That's life."

...continue the chaos, death and destruction of Iraqi citizens until American military and corporate oil interests are totally entrenched in that region.

The freedom Bush talks about for Iraq is America's freedom to exploit and steal the natural resources of that country, enriching a privileged group of Iraqis who with carry forth and enforce America's interests there while the masses of the Iraqi people will find themselves worse off. How many of Iraq's 23 million citizens have been scared and maimed from America's war and occupation during the past three years?

The numbers are in the hundreds of thousands. How many innocent Iraqi children, women and elderly have be killed or so badly disabled by America's weapons of mass destruction that an entire generation and perhaps multiple future generations of Iraqi's will be dependent on that society for survival because they will be too sick or severely disabled to support themselves? Rumsfeld neither cares about nor is honest enough to admit that such conditions currently exist and are being created anew every single day that America's troops and corporate interests remain in that country.

Rumsfeld is an evil stain, but so are the people in America who remain totally disinterested, who fail to challenge such evil and who fail to hold the perpetrators of such evil acts accountable, including the media, elected officials, the holders of administrative and cabinet positions and George W. Bush himself.
