Gas Prices Nearly $1.91 a Gallon: Survey
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. average retail gasoline prices rose more than 6 cents a gallon in the last two weeks, but further increases are likely to be modest in the short term unless OPEC (news - web sites) cuts production again, according to an industry analyst.

The national average for self-serve, regular unleaded gas was $1.9099 a gallon on Feb. 4, up 6.36 cents per gallon from Jan. 21, according to the nationwide Lundberg survey of about 7,000 gas stations. The price is now about 25 cents higher than one year ago, according to the survey released on Sunday.

"Part of the reason was catch-up from earlier crude oil price increases, but during the latest two-week period, crude prices slipped in part on the good news of Iraq (news - web sites)'s election," survey editor Trilby Lundberg said.

"Crude oil price run-ups earlier in January had been partly due to oil traders' concerns that a botched or delayed election would signify a substantial threat to oil production from that country," he said.

4. $2.00 in some places near us.....
here in Detroit suburbs.

Someone wrote a very simple editorial to our papers about how the heating bills and car gas have skyrocketed during the Bush/Cheney years compared to the Clinton years. Very straight and to the point.

6. My my how the republicans bitched and squealed ...
when gas was $1.40 under Clinton ! But Lord Bush told us how he would "jawbone" with OPEC to get the prices down. It will probably be $3.00 in another year, as Bush further destroys our economy.

10. Home heating bills, too
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 09:52 PM by LizW
Ours was $130 this month for natural gas. That is the highest month since we've lived in this house (14 years). And this has been a really mild month and we keep the house very cool.

11. And if, no, when the euro is the reserve currency......

....your $2.00 gas will be ....$2.60. And that's at the exchange rate now. It will be higher as time goes on.

Hate to be a pessimest but bush has fucked us all. Be ready to take a wheelbarrow of dollars to buy a loaf of bread. Any one remember the inflation in '30s germany? Get ready for the same here.

Our sons and daughters are dying for this oil and we are still paying high prices. How much more do we have to sacrifice?
