"Detectives investigating the 1998 Omagh bombing have arrested a 34-year-old man from the Dundalk area of County Louth. The man, who was arrested in Newry in the early hours of Monday, is being held in connection with serious terrorist offences.
Twenty-nine men, women and children died and hundreds were injured in the car bomb attack in the County Tyrone town on 15 August 1998. The bombing was later admitted by the dissident republican Real IRA. It was the worst single atrocity in the Northern Ireland Troubles.
Last month, the only man brought to trial over the attack was freed on bail after winning an appeal against his conviction at a court in Dublin."
