Bush Budget Cuts Medicaid, Disabled Housing, but Still Worsens Deficits
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGB37PF6X4E.html

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush proposed a $2.57 trillion budget Monday that erases scores of programs and slices Medicaid, disabled housing and many more, but still worsens federal deficits by $42 billion over the next five years.

In one of the most austere presidential budgets in years - one that faces precarious prospects in Congress - Bush would give nine of the 15 Cabinet-level departments less money in 2006 than they are getting this year. Overall, he would cut non-security domestic spending - excluding automatically paid benefits like Medicare - by 0.7 percent next year, which Bush said was the first such reduction proposed by the White House since President Reagan's day.

Forty-eight education programs would be eliminated, including one for ridding drugs from schools. In all more than 150 government-wide programs would be eliminated or slashed deeply, including Amtrak subsidies, oil and gas research and grants to communities hiring new police officers.

Bush would slow the growth of benefit programs by $137 billion over the next decade, nearly quadruple the savings he proposed a year ago with little success. Chief among the targets would be Medicaid, the federal-state health insurance program for the poor and disabled, but farmers' payments, student loans and veterans medical services were also on the chopping block.

And the worst thing anyone can do is ignore the cries of the poor, the needy, the fatherless, the widows, and the prisoners.

4. Is Bush saying he's going to cut all funding for Iraq?
"It's a budget that focuses on results," Bush told reporters after meeting with his Cabinet. "The taxpayers of America don't want us spending our money into something that's not achieving results."

7. No because the kind of "result" that Bush is hoping for
is to inflict as much pain and suffering on the great unwashed masses as possible.

If it doesn't further redistribute wealth upwards, it ain't happening.

5. So sooner or later, we will depend on foreign aid from other countries,
I suppose. We must have crossed the edge of "Compassionate Conservatism;" its a place where conservatives dare not go.

6. This article is the PERFECT response to an email I received just today
from someone who will now be a FORMER friend. You know, you just reach a breaking point when people you used to consider friends keep sending you their right wing bullshit.

Today I got an email titled "Evil at Work" and it contained an article about how Ed Rendell(Democratic governor of PA) is proposing cuts and limitations on Medicaid. Of course the little Bushbot who sent it to me has NO comprehension of how much the Bush administration has SCREWED the states on Medicaid funding.

I am responding with this article with a note saying, HERE is the true source of that "evil".

Thanks for the link, NNNOLHI.

I don't have anything to do with the Kool Aid drinkers. I can't waste my precious time on their nonsense.

Good for you for sending them an email that will make them uncomfortable (you would hope).

8. I wonder where he's going to put all these people after they
lose their homes or their caretakers die. Streets, prisons, poorhouses?

We better start contacting our senators and representatives. I don't suppose they included any cuts in their own salaries, perks, etc. for a job poorly done? Yeah. Right.

10. I got three ol' boys living next door to me ...
in a little ranch house. All three elderly, living on disability, with social services checking on them from time to time. I help them take care of their yard and however I can.

Of course, they had a large Bush/Cheney sign in their yard before the election.

I'm not sure if they voted or not.

14. This budget is bigger than last year's
The Bush Cult claims they're trimming the budget to bring down the soaring deficits. But they're not. They increased it from last since last year. They have the nerve to hide the cost it takes for Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bush sure do know how to stick it to people.

Actual FY2004 on-budget federal spending was $1,912,704 million ($1.9 trillion).

Forecast FY2005 on-budget federal spending is $2,080,022 million ($2.1 trillion). (This does not include some foreseeable Iraq occupation spending.)

Proposed FY2006 on-budget federal spending is $2,144,300 million ($2.1 trillion). (This does not include any foreseeable Afghanistan or Iraq occupation spending.)

Because of the Bushoilini defict spending, interest payments on the Federal Debt are projected to increase by $40 billion from FY2005 to FY2006.

Even without foreseeable Afghanistan or Iraq occupation spending, the proposed on-budget deficit is over 4% of the GDP! When the Banana Republican Congress gets done porking with this budget, the on-budget deficit will again be close to 5% of the GDP!

The on-budget federal deficit for FY2004 was $567.4 billion.
The on-budget federal deficit for FY2005 is $588.5 billion.
The on-budget federal deficit for FY2006 is proposed as $559.9 billion, but that does not include supplemental appropriations for Afghanistan and Iraq, expected to be in excess of $80 billion. Thus, we can easily expect a FY2006 federal deficit above $640 billion!

22. HE spent $$$$$$$$$$$$$................2.6 trillion out of SS

In his 2001 SOTU address Bush said:

"To make sure the retirement savings of America's seniors are not diverted in any other program, my budget protects all $2.6 trillion of the Social Security surplus for Social Security, and for Social Security alone."
