Prosecutors Say Man Ran Prostitution Ring

CLEVELAND -- Four people convicted of leading a 13-year-old girl into prostitution were in court Monday to face their sentence, reported NewsChannel5's Joe Pagonakis.

The 13-year-old was paid $180 for a half hour by men like Cecil King, who tried to fight back tears as he was given three years probation for compelling prostitution.

The young girl had advice for other girls: "Please do not do what I did because it's a frightening thing to do … they could rape you, they could do anything to you."

The 15-year-old is receiving counseling. She said she turned to a life of prostitution because she didn't have a father figure while growing up.

Of COURSE they don't acknowledge that poverty and the hopelessness brought on by growing up in a broken home (usually causes by abject poverty) might actually be a problem, and a CAUSE for this sort of shit, because then it would make them think that just MAYBE...they should DO SOMETHING about it...and that would cost THEM money! Can't have that!!

Yeah, they will take care of the SYMPTOM, by prescribing long prison sentences AFTER THE FACT...but they will do NOTHING to address the fucking ROOT of the problem, because that would cost them MONEY, and not involve meting out more punishment and misery.

they just LOVE meting out punishment and misery. In fact, it is the only area in which they are OKAY about it costing them money! Look at the fact that our prison and military budgets NEVER get cut on their watch...no, only things that might help PREVENT such tragedy are cut.

This like Head Start, programs to help mentor children, especially those in broken homes, and programs designed to address poverty and at LEAST take the edge off the real, raw desperation of poverty!

These bastards wouldn't know a thing about that real, raw desperation, because they have never experienced it. I can tell you, from first-hand experience, what real, raw poverty does for you: When you very SURVIVAL hangs in the balance...all laws, morals, principles and ethics be DAMNED...you will do what you have to to survive, even if for only five more minutes! You will steal, you will kill, you will do what it takes. Fortunately, in my darkest hours, I have never HAD to resort to anything illegal or immoral to survive, but I know DAMN WELL that the capacity to do so exists within me...and if I absolutely had to do so to survive, I'd do it...without compunction.

The girl's father was behind bars for seven years. For what, I don't know. If it had anything to do with assault, well, I'm sorry, but poverty is no excuse for that. There is no excuse for that, unless you want to talk about the injustices of our legal system where the impoverished are forced to do time a wealthy person could easily get out of with a competent lawyer.

.....as far as poverty, cmon, I was in Peru in the spring. Thats poverty.
