Dallas County DA investigating Dallas Diocese
Per a radio report this morning the accused priest started out at Dallas' Bishop Lynch High School, then was moved to Plano's St Mark's school, then was moved to a church in Rockwall...the accusation started at the first school, then happened again at the St Mark's. Dallas has a LONG history of re-assigning priests and then covering up afterwards <i.e Rudy Kos in the 80's/90's>.

The Dallas County District Attorney's Office said Monday it is launching a criminal investigation into how the Dallas Diocese has handled reported cases of sexual abuse. A spokeswoman for the DA's office said the investigation would help determine if Catholic Bishop Charles Grahmann and his staff have received allegations of abuse by clergy members that haven't been reported to law enforcement.

Two recent cases made prosecutors suspicious of a written claim by the diocese in 2002, District Attorney Bill Hill spokeswoman Rachel Horton said in Monday night's online edition of The Dallas Morning News. In the claim, the diocese wrote that nobody in the ministry had violated any state laws relating to minors.

Sunday, a pastor in Rockwall who had been accused in the early 1990s of sexually harassing boys at jobs in Dallas and Plano resigned. Those who accused the pastor of the harassment said they never saw any indication that the diocese ever investigated the allegations or reported them to authorities.

The group Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests said the Dallas investigation is the first involving clergymen who were on duty after U.S. bishops adopted national "zero tolerance" reforms in 2002. "It's groundbreaking," SNAP leader David Clohessy said. "So many prosecutors want to believe the church has learned its lesson."

2. We shall see...
You would think the Dallas Diocese would have learned it's lesson with their Rudy Kos scandal in the 80's /90's. They nearly went bankrupt paying out money to the victims...they either DID close one of the Catholic schools in the low income/Hispanic part of town or they damn near had to in order to get more cashflow, etc...
A year or so ago when there were a bunch of national stories about priests the Dallas media was "bragging" how the Dallas Diocese had the strictest rules in the country put in place after the first scandal...so much for that bullshit.
Collin County should be weighing in here, soon, I would think since St Mark school is here in Plano, Collin County. It is also where a new Catholic school is scheduled to open next year...47 acre campus, 1200 kids..so we'll see if the county wants to ruffle any feathers or if they just let Dallas County go after the people involved. And then Rockwall <where the church is in the article> is in Rockwall County.
