Bush budget would cut billions for New York, opponents say


WASHINGTON New York state would lose at least one (b) billion dollars annually in federal funding if changes to the government's health programs for the poor proposed by President Bush are enacted.

The newly released budget plan also calls for about 2 (b) billion dollars in new tax incentives to build a rail link between lower Manhattan and John F. Kennedy International Airport by "trading in" unused September 11th aid.

Both the cuts and new rail spending would still have to be approved by Congress, where opposition is already mounting to Bush's lean spending package for the fiscal year beginning in October.

Senator Charles Schumer says this is his 25th federal budget, and it's the worse he's ever seen for New York.

Many red staters think that blue staters are elites. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University and had a hard time finding a job doing anything since the campaign. Red staters think that they are getting back at the elites but blue states have the better universities, cities, and technology. We can resist and eventually set things to where they are all equal.

especially Schumer & Clinton. The two of them should have been on bush's back years ago, exposing him for the phoney he is. Instead they let him cry crocidile tears here over 9/11 at his convention, and kept silent.

So lets all give them a call today. I agree with the previous posts, it's time to secede. Let them get on without us, it would be pleasing for both sides I'm sure. If it wasnt so galling I'd laugh at the "unused portion of 9/11 aid" What aid? It's always been tax credits, that will be used "sometime in the future".
