US soldier killed north of Baghdad
From correspondents in Baghdad
February 09, 2005
A US soldier was shot dead north of Baghdad yesterday, the military announced in a statement today.

The military did not elaborate on the location of the incident happened but the dead soldier's unit is based in Balad, north of the capital.

The US military earlier announced the death of another soldier, killed in the northern city of Mosul on February 6.

The deaths raise to 1446 the number of US military personnel whose lives have been lost in Iraq since Washington invaded in March 2003, according to Pentagon figures.
