Pilot Allegedly Threatened to Crash Plane (United - Into Wall St)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-pilot-arrested.story

United Airlines pilot who also flew for the National Guard told a woman that he wanted to crash a plane into Wall Street because some people made "easy money" there, court documents allege.

Robert Feneziani, 44, of San Diego, was arrested Wednesday by FBI agents with the Joint Terrorism Task Force of Western New York and charged with lying on a military application for a security clearance. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $10,000 bail.

On an October application for top security clearance, Feneziani said he had not been arrested or involved in civil court actions in the last seven years, Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Lynch said.

Officials later found he was arrested on two misdemeanor charges in San Diego, charges that were later dropped, and was involved in a civil court matter in 2000.

According to an FBI agent's affidavit, the woman, whose identity was not revealed in court papers, called the FBI Feb. 2 and told the agent Feneziani had made a threat in 2003 to crash a plane. Based on that information, the FBI investigated Feneziani and learned he had allegedly lied on the Defense Department form, the affidavit said.

8. Ain't that the truth...if Bush gets his way, buy stock in brokerage firms
and then use the reams of cash you make to fund political candidates who actually give a damn about America.

2. Never and I mean NEVER use hyperbole that can be seen as a threat
to another person's safety.

In 15 seconds you can REALLY ruin your life.

Regardless of whether this pilot was stupidly verbose or a real threat my advice is good.

4. Amen. Very sage advice.
And don't give voice to some of your more socially unacceptable fantasies (if carried out), either.

15. Yes, that's true, and ticked off people often lay in wait for a misstep
Which is why everyone needs to be careful.

3. Sounds like the pilot is not a terrorist
Just living too much on the edge.

Sounds like he's got some woman mad at him. Plus the misdemeanor charges and the lying.

That's not a terrorist. That's a cowboy. Hell, that could be Dubya if he hadn't lost his wings.

6. How can you defend yourself against an "unnamed witness?"
Is that how it works, these days?

7. How can one witness put someone in jail for something they
supposedly said?? sounds like anyone with a grudge against his neighbor could make a quick call to the FBI with an outrageous allegation and get them locked up.

don't they need "proof" anymore???? what country is this????

11. ...and was released on $10,000 bail????? WTF!!
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 04:13 PM by IanDB1
RELEASED ON BAIL?

Well, I don't know what's worse:

1) Releasing suspected terrorists on bail.

2) Detaining and torturing them indeffinitely without a hearing.

13. Guy works 20 hours a month and makes $75,000-$200,000 a year
and wants to crash a plane into Wall Street because they have it too easy? Sounds a litle strange. And then he lies on a security form - didn't anyone check the facts? This looks like a real stupid story.

14. You ever try to FLY 20 hours a month?
Passengers are exhausted often after one leg...

These pilots strap on hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment going 600mph and they have to be perfect. No mistakes are the norm.
Perfection is the norm.

I don't know about you, but I want a happy, well-rested pilot when I fly.
