Washington State House Passes Gay Rights Bill

POSTED: 12:20 pm PST February 11, 2005

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Washington state House has passed a gay rights bill.

It would prohibit discrimination against homosexuals in jobs, housing and insurance. The bill now goes to the Senate.

Similar bills have been introduces in the Legislature for nearly 30 years and died.

Sponsors believe the measure has a better chance of becoming law this year because Democrats control both houses of the Legislature and the governor's office.

4. Excellent news! It wouldn't happen under Rossi.
These "moderate" Republicans are no different than the rest.

7. For sure Rossi would have vetoed it.
But I fear he may use this as ammunition to oust Gregoire one way or another...

some good news in terms of gay rights for a change - for once rights are being extended for people, rather than being taken away.
