Suit Filed for 500 Guantanamo Detainees
WASHINGTON - A human-rights lawyers' group has filed a lawsuit seeking the release of more than 500 unnamed terror suspects held by the U.S. government at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The suit charging the detainees are being improperly held was filed late Thursday by the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights. It joins more than 70 cases already pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia filed by family members of other detainees.

U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina granted lawyers permission to file the suit Thursday. In a one-page order, he allowed the petition to proceed under the fictitious names "John Does," citing the special circumstances of the case. Urbina did not elaborate.

"The vast majority of the detainees at Guantanamo have not been able to communicate with loved ones who have the ability to contact lawyers in the U.S.," said Barbara Olshansky, the center's legal director. "For all of those who remain unrepresented, today's lawsuit is a giant step forward."

District Judge: Pentagon Fails to Provide Due Process for GITMO Detainees

Rejecting the Bush administration’s request to dismiss lawsuits filed on behalf of 54 foreign-born terror suspects protesting their detentions at Guantanamo, a district judge ruled today that the U.S. government has improperly prevented non-U.S. citizens picked up during the "War on Terror" from contesting their imprisonments, deeming the Pentagon's procedure to determine whether they are in fact “enemy combatants” fundamentally unfair and unconstitutional.

By failing to satisfy several due process requirements, U.S. District Judge Joyce Hens-Green found the Combatant Status Review Tribunals (CSRTs) violate the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and in some cases, the Geneva Convention treaties on treatment of prisoners of war.

How long does the Admin think they can get away with this sh*t? I betcha it'll be less than 4 years, speed is building up on this Gitmo farce, and it ain't just a few radicals.

It includes many countries, many Non-Government Organizations like Amnesty International, even the Red Cross, and an increasing number of courts INSIDE the USA - are going beyond just complaining about the illegal detention center Gitmo. The wheels are in motion, and accelerating . .

Hang on to ur ass Jr. & Co.

The world is poised to watch a good reaming . . .

I for one, want a front row seat!
