FBI closes investigation on 9/11 put options
This does it for me. Now I am 100% sure the BFEE had something to do with 9/11.

http://www.suntimes.com/output/terror/cst-fin-fbi19.html

Spokesman Ed Cogswell said the FBI has closed its investigation of stock and option trading that took place days before the attacks. He said the investigation turned up "absolutely no evidence'' of anyone with inside knowledge of what would happen.snip

5. Put that on the list
Of items to demand the next president re-open inquiry to. President Clark/Graham/Kucinich/Kerry/Edwards/Dean/Braun/Sharpton/Gephardt will have to get to the bottom of the criminality of the current administration. Over the next few months of political activism we should come up with a definitive list of items that need to be investigated.

on edit: after I've clamed down a bit.....How stupid is it to make a press release like this and leave so much room for more questions and speculation? If they really wanted to set the public psyche at ease they would have been totally transparent.

Louis Freeh's FBI has got to be the most corrupt since J. Edgar Hoover.

They won't release the names of these hedge funds - that in itself is proof to me that this yellow brick road would lead straight to Texas and Saudi Arabia.

Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 09:48 PM by nu_duer
at any given point and time, and we the people end up suspecting a lie, with no idea how deep it goes - and if they are eventually forced to give an inch on backing up anything they say, they will say that particular thing in such a way as to declare and end to any further questioning. "ok, here's this fact, now shut up and go away already, will ya?" But where do the lies end, bush regime? How many are there, where do they lead, and where do they end?

And btw, you and your gang DO answer to us, NOT the other way around. We'll let you know when the questioning is over, bushco.

This strategy of wild lie after lie, I hope, has begun to disgust more and more waking Americans.

"Oh that, well that's just a coincidence, silly" God, this is some of the lamest bs yet.

Name names.

Was it the CIA, FBI, or some other foreign intelligence service?

Or was it bin Laden's family?

Or was it the BFEE?

Somebody knew something was going down, and they put their money on it. The American people deserve to know who it was, so they can make their own judgements.

On DU, or Politex, or BuzzFlash that some of these put options HAD been indeed traced back to the CIA.

I am at work and cannot do the research right now, but I am almost positive that I read something about that. Maybe IndyMedia or something...If someone has any info, dig up your memories (they always count on you to have no memory recall of anything) and your archives.

Yes, Tower 7 that was not hit by a plane or falling debris, which collapsed due to a little office fire - yes, how convenient.
It was also very convenient for recently released FBI agent John O'Neil to be on his first day at the job as head of security
at the World Trade Center complex - the spy who was told to turn away from Bin Laden and Saudi ties to terrorism - yes, how convenient.

17. What's wrong folks, the investigation starting to get a little too close?
Make of these link what you will, I think the information is valid, I've found that Ruppert is more often right than wrong.

<http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2001/10/14723.html>

So the FBI gets a little too close for comfort and is ordered off the case, to shut it down. Sounds about right for this administration.

64. Finding a second source for the information..
would be a good idea. In reviewing the content here and on the net, I'm finding that Michael Ruppert (copvcia) seems to ultimately be the only source for anything other than the original brief stories about the fact of the abnormal trading. I.e., all Krongard references seem to go back to Mr. Ruppert. I can't judge him or his websites, but I think the story won't be pursued in the mainstream unless another investigative reporter starts digging into it. I wrote to Greg Palast asking if he has investigated it. I think we need a Palast or a Pilger to make this story grow more legs.

Also, I'm pretty sure that some graphs existed that showed the trading activity back then, but I can't find them now.

32. Yes--it's a good source.
I had this saved from the same place:

<<On March 26, 2001, Krongard was appointed Executive Director of the CIA, the third highest position in the CIA. >>

http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/wot/sept11/911alexbrown.html

So MY question is--WHY was Krongard brought back to the CIA? And this means that he was only there about 5 months before 9-11. One thought--it's possible that he's close to the Bushes (Alex. Brown, Inc being a link) and that he was trusted to be the person in the CIA who would keep that agency in line. So who put him there? I wonder if Ray McGovern and others at VIPS (former intelligence professionals group--I can't remember what the V stands for) might know something about this.

I too am outraged by this (and amazed that the FBI didn't think this would be noticed).

43. Brown brother-Harriman was the investment bank that hired Poppy
They were bought by Deutsche Bank, although I believe there is still a Brown Brothers fund. Krongard worked for Deutsche Bank.

I wonder how many large banks and investment houses are used as money launderers for the CIA, the mafia, and the BFEE? All three seemed to be joined at the hips.

23. But these two paragraphs from the Sun-Times say it all !!
Think set theory. Read between the lines.

and look at these two paragraphs !!

**** * **** ***
"Cogswell said most of the options trading was carried out by hedge funds with bearish outlooks. He did not name any of the funds, which pursue risky investment strategies on behalf of wealthy clients.

Market regulators in other countries opened similar investigations after the attacks, but Cogswell said he believes all have been concluded with no evidence that allies of Osama bin Laden were involved."
**** * **** ***

(well, they wouldn't "appear" to be allies of OBL, now would they?)

"did not name" means they do know the names of the funds...
...so if the names of the funds are known just who are the wealthy clients of those funds?

"Oh, so it was just wealthy clients pursuing risky investment strategies. That's alright then."

Wealthy clients usually go and collect their prize. (This is why they are wealthy :))
This time however they didn't collected the profits. This means that collecting the prize they could lose much more money.

However this AMR and UAL contracts were about just a few millions. The total sum of transactions related to 9/11 it's about 15 billions. This is not even mentioned in the Media.

http://www.americanfreepress.net/051302/Revealing_9-11_Stock_Trades_Co/revealing_9-11_stock_trades_co.html

...

In the days following the terror attacks, suspicious and unusual stock trading activity indicated that people used inside information to make huge profits. The money made from the trades done with apparent inside information has been estimated at up to $15 billion worldwide.

The Institute for Counter Terrorism (ICT), located in Herzliya, Israel, published an article, “Black Tuesday: World’s Largest Insider Trading Scam?” on Sept. 19, 2001.

Author Don Radlauer, an expert in stock options and derivatives, provided details of the types and volumes of the suspicious trades and said: “Obviously, anyone who had detailed knowledge of the attacks before they happened was, at the very least, an accessory to their planning; and the overwhelming probability is that the trades could have been made only by the same people who masterminded the attacks themselves.”

His term was not up until 2003. Why did he suddenly resign?

In light of what we know now regarding all the screw-ups in the FBI especially before 9/11, why has Louis Freeh been able to skate free of responsibility? Why indeed?

I feel nothing but disdain for the cabal that runs Bush and who is trying to control the world...I often become too cynical and send the wrong message.

Of course we are concerned about our own placing those put-options.

There has never been anything that even hints that OBL or even the Saudis placed the put options and now the FBI has told us so...therefore someone should show the graphics of traffic for put options before and after 9-11 along side a graphic of UA and AA before and after 9-11 and tell us again that there are no dirty hands and hearts.

ASHCROFT HAS GOT TO GO - SURELY NO GROUP ON EARTH HAS EVER BEEN THIS EVIL. Yes, they think we are stupid, gullible, and a joke.

51. This brings up a question
that has been bugging me for some time. 15 billion "worldwide" suggests a lot of people involved. Wouldn't anyone smart enough to try to profit off 9/11 also realize that they would be fingered for collecting the money? I can't believe that they didn't know this in advance, and that it was planned for the money to sit there until the government or whoever "legally" moved it to its final intended destination.

55. No one getting the money is bs
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 11:38 AM by teryang
Put options either exercised, closed out for cash, or expire unused. Given the enormous losses in the two airline stocks it is preposterous to suggest that such options were not negotiated or exercised after 911. One does not have to accept delivery of cash or come to get it, it is credited to ones account.

The fact that this press anouncement says falsely that there was "no evidence" of impropriety is evidence of obstruction of justice and that the options were in fact negotiated. Why would there be a need to exculpate those who nobly had foregone the benefit of their business acumen in light of the national tragedy? The sheer volume of trading is circumstantial evidence of insider trading. The narrowness of the trading in the two affected airlines and not others is evidence of insider knowledge of the attacks.

The FBI investigation report will be confidential and exempt from FOIA. I think it is pretty obvious who one of the affected families is based on past ownership and history but I don't want to get sued by saying it. I could guess three right off and probably be right.

48. It's up to us
It's up to people like us, who read DU and stay informed, to keep these questions alive. Somehow, though, the widely reported fact of the put options has not yet come alive for the American populace as a whole. Our financial system is gamed and we're afraid to look too close for fear we might be surprised by who was doing the gaming... I say, "Let us know where your trail led and how far it went before it stopped. We'll draw our own conclusions. If it points to International Allies, or MegaBucks Corp, or People In High Places, then so be it. You work for us, and we have a right to know."

Furthermore, our national security has been poorly served indeed with all of the self-serving secrecy and lies put forth by this and other administrations. We have also seen, time and again, the blowback from these alliances with the devil (such as OBL, Saddam, Noriega to name a few). In other words, perhaps we should re-examine the charter of these agencies that supposedly work for us, the American people, and supposedly answer to a higher standard -- the Constitution -- than mere questions of what is expedient for us to say this week, now that our little schemes have been caught out.

Yes, I damn well do want to know where that investigation led. I damn well do want to know who made those trades, and where they got their information. I remember how annoyed I was when the investigations into offshore accounts was scaled back, no doubt due to the influence of the many wealthy people in and out of government.

how are we more secure? If the same people who committed the atrocities of 9/11 made big $ off their actions, they now have more cash available to plan future attacks against America.

One thing is sure.....they couldn't pin this on OBL or SH, otherwise this would have been leaked to the public, big time.

I am more convinced then ever that this administration has much to hide.

Interesting that the FBI couldn't find the anthrax perp or the profiteers from 9/11, but were able ID every hijackerand the case wrapped up in 24 hours.....

56. Congress could publish the FBI report
In fact any congressman or senator could do so, if there it were leaked. The problem is that such a leak would be life threatening.

A committee could subpoena the confidential report as well and publish it. That might bring on dire results as well.

52. We already know the FBI doesnt listen to their field agents...
and they obviously still arent listening. Ought to investigate Carlisle for 'put' options...or the Sauds.

FBI ought to be making minimum wage...they can only find hookers in New Orleans and Bongs.

70. Wonder is this has anything to do with WR Grace--the asbestos
company with its products in WTC--being on the put options list? This is related to Halliburton subsidiary Dresser that owns WR Grace.

69. What if FBI had invested in "put" case?
Only intelligence had information of terror attack. Now let intelligence investigate the case committed by themselves, what result you expected?
