U.S. soldier killed, 4 injured in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- An American soldier was killed and four others were injured Saturday in Baghdad when a booby-trapped car exploded near their patrol.

Iraqi security sources said the car blew up on a main street in the eastern district of the capital.

Eyewitnesses said the booby-trapped car, which may have been driven by a suicide attacker, exploded as the U.S. military patrol passed, also injuring Iraqi military and civilian passers-by.

Iraqi security sources said earlier in the day about 18 people, including police officers and civilians, were killed and 16 others injured in a suicide car attack targeting a police station in the city of Musayab, south of Baghdad.
