Police: Dodgers fan shot, killed by Giants fan

Fan shot in Parking Lot Area of Stadium

LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles Dodgers fan was shot and killed by a San Francisco Giants fan following a dispute in the parking lot after Friday night's game, police said.

"Apparently we have multiple suspects who are Giants fans who got into an argument with a Dodger fan," police spokeswoman Adriana Sanchez said. "One of the suspects shot the Dodger fan and then fled the location."

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Sanchez said. He was shot in the torso about 10 p.m. as people were leaving the game, which the Giants won 6-4.

Police searched the sprawling Dodger Stadium parking lot in the hills north of downtown late into the evening.

8. The Yankee-Sox games can get very ugly.

Here's a few stories:
I refuse to go to Sox games at the stadium since I don't like mustard thrown on me as happened several years back.
A few more years back some hooligan at Yankee Stadium threw a KNIFE(!) onto the field where it landed next to Angels' rightfielder Wally Joiner.
After the Mets defeated the sox in the final WS game in '86, one of the Red Sox staff was hit in the head by a beer bottle hurled from the upper decks.

4. At the only game I've seen in Dodger stadium, beer sales

were cut off like in the 4th inning because of fights in the stands. I've seen major league games in several stadiums around the country including Anaheim and old Candlestick. I've never seen the violence I saw at Dodger stadium at any other place.

I went to a game at Lambeau in 1990. It was a Thursday night at 8:00 pm. The fans started showing up at Noon to tailgate and drink.

Over 200 people were arrested, and another 500 were ejected. One woman 2 rows away from me had her leg broken. There were dozens of fights. No one was killed but there were at least 20 injuries requiring medical attention.

After that there was no tailgating allowed in the lot until 3 hours before the game. Problem is the hooligans just moved across the street to do their drinking.

The Bears won 6-0. It was a very boring game, the action was in the stands

It gets nasty in the cheap seats, especially if the Giants are in town. I used to share season tickets and would see multiple fights every single game. They're out of control, kind of like * and his gang of thugs.

In the 40's-50's there were Gaints bars and Dodger bars - you had to be careful where you went. I don't know the details but my dad remembers a Dodger Fan getting shot.

the people of NY had the good sense to confine the Dodgers and their fans to the borough of Brooklyn, the rest of NY was split among Yankee and Giant fans.....I grew up a few miles from the Polo Grounds, and not much further from Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx.

Ive been a baseball fan (and die hard Giant rooter) since seeing my first game, ironically a Giant Dodger double header in 1948 ( I was 5 years old and still remember it well). Until the strike and subsequent cancellation of the world series I went to about 25-30 games a year, now I watch these primadonas on TV and refuse to give them my money....but , at all those games and during all those years I remember a few drunken fights here and there but nothing like this sort of violence.

It is a mirror of the times in which we live, a pResident that gleefully attacks and murders thousands of innocent civilians and then ,later, says ,"oops, Saddaam just might not be the threat we thought he was, but what the hell, done is done"......

As a matter of historical record - the Giants were third in attendance of the three NY teams during this era so at least a few folks from outside flatbush were going to the games. The Giants didn't even draw a million people with Willie Mays playing center field.

There may not have been many fights in the stands but there were plenty in the bars - Whitey Ford, Mickey Mantle and Billy Martin were involved in a pretty famous one that got Martin bounced from the Yankees if memory serves.

Unless you can show that the Giants fan who did the shooting had a concealed weapons permit. You are correct that even if he did it would have been illegal to bring one to the stadium.

The city of Philadelphia set up a court room at Veterans Stadium. During Eagles games anybody arrested is instantly brought before a judge. It seems to have calmed things down a bit.

Yes, killing rival fans is practically a sport in itself in the UK.....

There have been lots of clashes between rival fans, particularly those associated with several specific clubs (e.g. Milwall). Regrettably there have indeed been a few deaths.
