Ex-Congressman Frost signs on with Fox News Channel

http://www.mysanantonio.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D8898AS80.html

Former U.S. Rep. Martin Frost of Dallas has signed a deal to be a political commentator for the Fox News Channel, the 24-hour cable network announced Tuesday.

Frost lost his Dallas-area congressional seat in November after redistricting engineered by Majority Leader Tom DeLay forced him into a race with Rep. Pete Sessions in a more Republican-friendly district. Frost served 26 years in Congress.

Most recently, Frost dropped out of the race for Democratic national chairman after failing to win the support of organized labor. Howard Dean won the chairmanship last week.

Frost served as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which focuses on re-electing House members, after the 1994 Republican landslide

one minute wanted to head the DNC can turn so easily to Fox.

5. that is the craziest thing I've heard today.
I wonder what he'll be doing. Liberal behind glass---something fun for the faux kids? Hollywood updates maybe? I'm sure Fox has a nice place for him.

8. I'll reserve judgement
Remember Greta's husband was a member of John Kerry's campaign staff and Faux kept her on, throughout.

I'm not thrilled about this, but I'll wait and see. Well, maybe just wait and hear and read. Seeing would me tuning it in.

11. I think that Frost got the better end of that deal.
He knows a lot about fending for himself in hostile territory.

I have been voting for Martin Frost since I was old enough to vote in the mid 80's. He is a solid, soft-spoken, smart, common sense Democrat. I was very sad when DeLay gerrymandered him out of office.

I do not think that this will persuade me to watch anything on FAUX. I would definitely watch if he had his own show. I would rather see him on a different network.

24. FAUX is a bad idea but he has always been a solid Liberal. not extremist
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 09:13 PM by BrightKnight
I am a blue-blooded Democrat and I have known him for years. He has always been a solid Democrat.

He has been pro local business. He has been more pro defense that most democrats. His wife is an Army General. His voting record is solidly Democratic. He has always focused on serving his minority district.

I think that he could server the cause better by appearing on a different network.

26. What the fuck?
Blue-blooded Democrat? He should try plain and simple Democrat.

You know....the kind of person that wouldn't touch Rupert Murdoch's tarnished lucre.

Fuck him and any rationalization of him appearing on what amounts to be a propaganda arm for the GOP. He can take his blue-blooded credentials and stick them up his ass. Fucker.

13. I won't watch FOX for anything or anybody - but
Martin Frost will greatly enhance their idiot line-up. Frost is a good man and a great Democrat, who got things done for his constituents and the state. He worked as well with business as he did with minorities. I just hope that he doesn't become another whipping boy Colmes.

25. He never denied or apologized for any of his Liberal votes.
He did a fairly good job of throwing attacks on his voting record back in the face of the neocon fool he was running against.

He is a very bright guy and he might just out fox them.

HA! Who are you KIDDING?
Watched "OutFoxed"? Well, I work for Murdoch (damn it all to hell!) and they don't let you on FAUX unless you toe the line - THEIR neoconservative line, that is.

He knows what he's getting into, and he's fine with it. If you wait until he actually says something worth hearing on FAUX, you'll be waiting a long time. They'll cut his lmic and drop him in no time flat if he wanders off the reservation.

After 26 years, it's gotta be hard to even think of being employed for anyone other than the government. Working for Fox, he'll still be on the federal payroll.

33. Say it ain't so, Martin
Let's recap the guy's past - moderate Democrat, driving force behind the Amber Alert, pro-business type trying to get more service industry jobs into D/FW (secured a Comcast deal for Irving).

He's a nice guy, but seems to have given up on manufacturing jobs for the Dallas area. Our garment industry was gutted by folks like DeLay when they helped send those jobs to sweatshops in Saipan.

We may need to DU this guy back into the fold. Him and whatever power base he's got in North Texas.
