SEATTLE (AP) - Federal agents arrested three men on gun and explosives charges Tuesday, including a white supremacist who once served time for plotting to kill Martin Luther King Jr.

Keith Gilbert, 65, a former associate of late Aryan Nations founder Richard Butler, was arrested at his Seattle home, FBI spokeswoman Robbie Burroughs said.

William D. Heinrich, 50, a former aide to Butler, and John P. Hejna, 44, were also arrested.

A complaint said Gilbert had sold AK-47 assault rifles and other weapons to a confidential informant working with the federal government over the past two years. He was charged with various weapons offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Guns are designed to propel a projectile in a certain direction. You can use a gun in the manner for which it was designed all day long by firing it into a hillside (like the range at Craig's Creek just outside of B'burg) and not kill a single human being.

If it makes you feel better, don't think of guns as a killing device, think of it as a device to repeatedly test and demonstrate certain laws of physics. You can use it to demonstrate "for every action there is an equal and opposite reation", and the effects of gravity, and the effects of air resistance and wind on a projectile travelling at a high rate of speed. Or, you could just watch the dirt fly, and the reactive targets get all jiggly while partaking in the odor of cordite burning.

Remember, Americans shoot literally billions of rounds a year, and very few people die from gunshot wounds per round fired. BTW, most of those who DO die of gunshot wounds are deliberate suicides.

The NRA has always maintained that the 2nd Amendment was written by the Founding Fathers to, among other things, allow the people to maintain firearms as a last-ditch effort to prevent a foreign power from overtaking our nation. The Iraqi resistance, with no navy, air force, artillery, or armored vehicles, has effectively bogged down the most powerful military force on this planet with relatively simple personal weapons and improvised explosives. The right to bear arms has worked wonderfully from an Iraqi resistance fighter standpoint.
