Greenspan: U.S. Must Get Finances in Order
By REUTERS

Filed at 10:01 a.m. ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said on Wednesday the U.S. economy entered 2005 in good shape but warned fiscal discipline was essential to meet future challenges.

``All told, the economy seems to have entered 2005 expanding at a reasonably good pace, with inflation and inflation expectations well-anchored,'' Greenspan said remarks prepared for delivery to the Senate Banking Committee.

But he tempered his optimism by warning that the relatively tranquil economic conditions of recent decades must not be taken for granted.

``History cautions that people experiencing long periods of relative stability are prone to excess,'' he said. ``We must thus remain vigilant against complacency.''<snip>

1. Part of the bu$h regime propaganda machine
The whole reason the economy is in the shitter is because of Social Security and Medicare, so they want the kool-aid crew to believe.
What about insurmountable amount spent blowing the shit out of the desert in the Middle East?
What about Mars?
They just want to break the middle class and those programs are prevent that from happening.

2. This is addressed to you, Mr. Bush
While you have been setting records for Vacation Days, the nation has been going to hell in a handbasket. You are responsible.

Please step aside and allow someone competent to do the job of President.

4. IMHO This man no longer has any credebility.
I notice he no longer gets the great raves that he received during Clinton's term. Ask any Republican and the boom of the ninties was all Greenspan's doing. After the Bush* Cabal took over he suddenly forgot how to do it. I find that hilarious especially since Republicans have complete control.

7. Greenspan helped put the U.S. in this position
By keeping interest rates artificially low, Greenspan helped create this problem.

Greenspan had the nerve to complain about American's low level of savings. His low interest rates are the biggest reason why American's are not saving any money.

He has as much credibility as Bush himself. None.

8. "Prone to excess"
Is that Greenspan-speak for "emptying the Treasury and giving it to the administration's overrich friends under cover of an illegal war and oil-grab in the Middle East"?

In which case, I would submit that Mr. Greenspan might use the past tense, because that's already happened.

Robber barons, all of them.

10. Read Sen. Boxer's speech transcript. (BTW, Greenspan can go to Hell.)
Sen. Boxer says privatization is the mechanism to DESTROY Social Security. Bush is following a blueprint that says to neutralize opposition by claiming retirees' SS benefits won't be changed by "SS reform."

13. Fuck you Greenspan.
You are responsible for the mess. You and your boy Wonder. You wanna fix the mess you created? Fine, eliminate the tax cuts you gave to your rich buddies. And stop fighting unnecessary neverending wars.
