Family: Ohio soldier killed in Iraq ambush

CINCINNATI- An Army infantryman from suburban Cincinnati was among three U.S. soldiers killed during an ambush in Iraq near Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, the victim's family said Friday.

The Army told the family that James C. Wright was riding in an armored Humvee that was hit Thursday with rocket-propelled grenades, said his brother, Edward Wright II of Delhi Township, a Cincinnati suburb.

Soldiers visited the home of James Wright's father on Friday morning to inform him of the death. Edward Wright, 53, had previously served 20 years in the Army.

The Army did not have additional details of the attack, Edward Wright II said. Two other Americans were killed and two were injured.

"All I know is that there was an ambush and my brother was one of the three people who were killed, and there were two seriously injured," Wright said in a telephone interview from his home.

The victim's wife, Alina Wright, is with the Army's First Cavalry at Fort Hood and is seven months pregnant with her first child, Edward Wright II said.

Not to judge the guy from a few sound bytes, but the soldier's brother was spouting the fought-for-his-country party line just like the Administration taught him to. I suppose that's what most soldier's families have to tell them themselves at first, to give the death some meaning.

Sadly, the guy didn't appear to be grieving at all. I'd hate to see that ton of bricks hit when they finally learn what their son, brother, husband, and FATHER really died for.

11. Grief

Grief is funny. People show it differently. The full reality may not even have hit the guy yet.

I know I'd be looking for some reason for my brother's death. It would be too horrible to feel he'd died for no good reason at all.
