Bush Sees More Time for Diplomacy Over Iran

President Bush said on Thursday there was still time to use diplomacy to keep Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and vowed to support Israel if Tehran threatened its security.

"As you know, the Iranian issue hasn't even gotten to the (U.N.) Security Council yet. And so there's more diplomacy, in my judgment, to be done," Bush said at a news conference.

His remarks suggested that any military action would wait at least until after the matter goes before the United Nations for possible sanctions, should Washington choose that course.

"Iran is different from Iraq, very different," Bush said. He said the international community had tried diplomacy "over and over again" in Iraq before military action was taken.

It's all becoming clear now....The more of a danger a nation poses, the less serious * takes them as a threat.

Iraq (no WMD, no al Qaeda) = full-scale war

Syria (some al Qaeda, no known WMD) = saber-rattling

Iran (sponsors terrorism, possible nuclear capabilities) = Need more time for diplomacy

The Bush cabal knows only too well that the storm clouds are gathering. Russia is now going through with its missile sales to both Iran and Syria. China is no doubt doing everything it can behind the scenes to arm both countries.

Stan Goff wrote yesterday that "Cheney and his clique want to invade Iran, but they all know it's political suicide". So they won't do it. But they'll play a good game of bluff in the meantime.

So for now, they will go back to their meetings, order lunch in the board room and speculate some more. But they know what's up.

... that's got to be his problem. That and being an outright liar. Using diplomacy, my ass. He's refused to enter into joint negotiations with the EU and Iran, and there's no one in his administration that can talk directly to Iran without pissing them off.

Second, this is exactly the same routine as Iraq. No plans for war, we'll try diplomacy first, then go to the UN, but, gosh darnit, diplomacy just didn't work in Iraq, and the UN just fiddled around so we had to do something.

These guys are so good at broadcasting punches--the rest of the world has to be saying, "here we go again." It's no wonder that Iran and Syria just announced a joint defense pact.

Iran is just to difficult for the US Army! You'd never win without "Nuking" it. Syria or Venezuela will be hard enough alongside Iraq. North Korea down right impossible! The "Rest of the World" looks at the disarray of the US army in Iraq and is starting to feel a lot more comfortable. I think America is starting to "lose" its superpower status - its just that "Jesusland" hasn't realized that yet!
