Aboard Air CIA -Newsweek Investigation
Feb. 28 issue...
...
NEWSWEEK has obtained previously unpublished flight plans indicating the agency has been operating a Boeing 737 as part of a top-secret global charter servicing clandestine interrogation facilities used in the war on terror. And the Boeing's flight information, detailed to the day, seems to confirm Masri's tale of abduction. Gnjidic, Masri's lawyer, called the information "very, very important" to his case, which is being investigated as a kidnapping by a Munich prosecutor. In what could prove embarrassing to President Bush, Gnjidic added that a German TV station was planning to feature Masri's tale ahead of Bush's much-touted trip to Germany this week. German Interior Minister Otto Schily recently visited CIA Director Porter Goss to discuss the case, and German sources tell NEWSWEEK that Schily was seeking an apology. CIA officials declined to comment on that meeting or any aspect of Masri's story.

The evidence backing up Masri's account of being "snatched" by American operatives is only the latest blow to the CIA in the ongoing detention-abuse scandal. Together with previously disclosed flight plans of a smaller Gulfstream V jet, the Boeing 737's travels are further evidence that a global "ghost" prison system, where terror suspects are secretly interrogated, is being operated by the CIA. Several of the Gulfstream flights allegedly correlate with other "renditions," the controversial practice of secretly spiriting suspects to other countries without due process. "The more evidence that comes out, the clearer it is that there's been a stunning failure of accountability," says lawyer John Sifton of Human Rights Watch.
...
While it battles for influence in Washington, the agency is also fighting a rear-guard action against critics at home and abroad. Some CIA officials fear the White House is now exposing them to legal peril. New Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, under pressure while he awaited his confirmation hearings late last year, repudiated a controversial August 2002 memo that CIA officials carefully solicited from the Justice Department for legal authorization on renditions and the agency's treatment of Qaeda prisoners. Today the CIA has dozens of detainees it doesn't know how to dispose of without legal procedures. "Where's the off button?" says one retired CIA official. "They asked the White House for direction on how to dispose of these detainees back when they asked for guidance. The answer was, 'We'll worry about that later.' Now we don't know what to do with these guys. People keep saying, 'We're not going to shoot them'."...MORE....

This plane is "owned" by an outfit that is incorporated in Needham, MA.

When I was a member of another forum I did a complete dosier on it. Will work on reproducing it here.

And those bootlickers running Germany couldn't be bothered to prosecute their visiting war criminals, either. What a shame. It would be nice to see Rummy and Rice in jail, as a good start! Then Bush could follow after with Goss, Sanches, and Negroponte on his heels!

I think the only country Bush probably better not set foot in is Venezuela, however. Chavez would enjoy arresting the entire administration. And I'd enjoy watching him do it!

The Sunday Times - World

US accused of ‘torture flights’
Stephen Grey

AN executive jet is being used by the American intelligence agencies to fly terrorist suspects to countries that routinely use torture in their prisons. The movements of the Gulfstream 5 leased by agents from the United States defence department and the CIA are detailed in confidential logs obtained by The Sunday Times which cover more than 300 flights. Countries with poor human rights records to which the Americans have delivered prisoners include Egypt, Syria and Uzbekistan, according to the files. The logs have prompted allegations from critics that the agency is using such regimes to carry out “torture by proxy” — a charge denied by the American government.

Some of the information from the suspects is said to have been used by MI5 and MI6, the British intelligence services. The admissibility in court of evidence gained under torture is being considered in the House of Lords in an appeal by foreign-born prisoners at Belmarsh jail, south London, against their detention without trial on suspicion of terrorism. Over the past two years the unmarked Gulfstream has visited British airports on many occasions, although it is not believed to have been carrying suspects at the time.

The Gulfstream and a similarly anonymous-looking Boeing 737 are hired by American agents from Premier Executive Transport Services, a private company in Massachusetts. The white 737, registration number N313P, has 32 seats. It is a frequent visitor to American military bases, although its exact role has not been revealed.

More is known about the Gulfstream, which has the registration number N379P and can carry 14 passengers. Movements detailed in the logs can be matched with several sightings of the Gulfstream at airports when terrorist suspects have been bundled away by US counterterrorist agents. Analysis of the plane’s flight plans, covering more than two years, shows that it always departs from Washington DC. It has flown to 49 destinations outside America, including the Guantanamo Bay prison camp in Cuba and other US military bases, as well as Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Morocco, Afghanistan, Libya and Uzbekistan.

The real question is, will Americans care? The world knows what we are up to and it is an open secret, but unless people in the US react the flights will continue. And the corrupt thugs responsible will continue to exercise power.

The Chicago Tribune is hardly chopped liver. Feel free to google the other 9 pages cited in post #9, I'm certain other "majors" will turn up.

The issue is NOT the MSM suppressing it, the issue is when they do uncover something unsavory by *, there is not "Ukranian" uproar by the populace to keep it front and center.

Read "Newsjock's" new piece, now in the "greatest" area.

We who know so much of the otherwise suppressed news are responsible for sharing it directly with our friends and neighbors.

21. The media manipulation of the public
following the events of 9/11 seems to have left people punch-drunk from having their emotions orchestrated; that has a lot to do with the lack of public reaction.

It's good that this is getting light again. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out.

behind releasing this now. For months we on DU have been reading about the "Torture Plane" and there have been recorded sightings all over the world...with a "watch kept" by ordinary citizens.

I'm glad to see this reported but one of the reporters (Mark Hosenball) usually writes with "Blue Dress" Issikoff. I have to hope this is fairly written even though it blames the CIA rather than Gonzales and leaves the Chimp off the hook.

Maybe Issikoff is working on the Gannon story and too busy to screw this one up...but that would be wishful thinking that Newsweek would seriously not skew a story to keep the Chimp and his buddies free of taint. Blame the CIA is their way of covering butt about all the terror warnings the CIA gave them and they ignored.

But, this plane needs to be grounded no matter who's responsible...

13. German Interior Minister Otto Schily
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 02:25 AM by Dirk39
Hello from Germany,
German Interior Minister Otto Schily: he's now a kind of hardcore law and order type of guy that puts Ashcroft to shame.

He started his career as a lawyer for the RAF (Red Army Fraction), later he became a "Green", then he converted to German's third-way-blairist Social Democratic Party. During the seventies, he shared his office with a guy, who is now one of the leading Nazis in Germany, Horst Mahler.

Before, Mahler was the chief of a sectarian stalinist-maoist party in Germany, the "KPD".

In a way, Schily was an authoritarian leftist before and today he's an authoritarian right-winger.

But many leftists in Germany - I admit to be one of them - did never understand, how the hell he could become the "Interior Minister" of Germany.
A prominent German Green, Jutta Ditfurth, did report in a book about the German Greens that nearly all of them, including her, were contacted by the CIA and invited to the USA for "training" and informational meetings. When she refused to write a study about the Green Party for the CIA, she was told that the German Greens wouldn't exist the way they do, if the USA would not like them to exist and that two other prominent German Greens had already agreed to write such a study.

Just as a sidenote...

Hello from Germany,
Dirk

19. Hello,
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 03:18 AM by Dirk39
thanx for your reply, I did just expect to be called some kind of conspiracy guy.
But to my best knowledge, these are facts.

When Schily started an initiative to outlaw the German Nazi Party, NPD, the initiative was stopped by Germany's highest Court, 'cause it revealed that nearly all the witnesses that should prove the NPD is outside the German Constitution, were working for Germany's Secret Service: the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Strange democracies, we live in, very strange....
I gave up supporting the German Greens for long and did only expect the worst, but reading the book, Jutta Ditfurth did write about her experiences, was a kind of shock. I didn't expect anything good, but this was far beyond what I did expect.

Dirk

Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 05:50 AM by neweurope
in as far as that man was never a leftist. The man was a conservative even when he was a member of the greens (which he used as a stepping Stone into parliament). His career didn't start with his defending the RAF, it was already well established (although I'm sure he saw that as a means to get attention). He didn't defend them because he was a leftist - he wasn't.

As far Ias I know Mahler was a member but never the chief of the KPD. Meanwhile he is supposed to have left the NPD.

And Schily - as much as I hate him - doesn't put Ashcroft & Co. to shame. THEY are the masters and HE tries to do what they ask him to do. But he certainly isn't worse than them.

So far we in Germany don't have PATRIOT I + II NOR HR 418 NOR PNAC.

22. Yes Truthfreedom - We are becoming "Sick" of your feelings of Superiority!
Ok, America used to be "Great" as Hollywood keeps reminding us about. Check "Black Hawk Down"! American kill ratio on the ground was claimed to be 15 to 1 in this movie. In Iraq this is not happening on the ground. World sources are saying on the ground that you are taking heavy KIA despite what you want to think and at traditionally normal killed to wounded ratios of 1:8 you are potentially taking extremely heavy wounded numbers as well. Now the US army claims that "Body armour" protects their soldiers! This is true probably, but the Guerrillas will learn how to create their "IED's" to strike at parts of the body that are not protected by that "Body Armour". Wounded numbers will increase! and they will be "WOUNDED"! This is only "Year 2", Vietnam went on for "10YEARS" with exactely the same propoganda that is being expoused now. It really is in the American public's hand's! Nobody in the "Rest of the world" really cares!! Its the "Bush Gang" vs Muslim radicals! We really don't care who wins!! But we understand that in fact there will be "NO WINNERS"!!! Only "LOOSERS" in this Powergrab!KILL KILL KILL KILL -keep going its your kids!

27. It all adds up. The current anti-Bush climate is finally ready for this.
Whether or not it's old, and people ignored it the first time is irrelevant. The times and context make it useful, and the press is looking more ready than ever to bust on Bush.

We're reaching critical mass where their wrong-doing is piling up high enough to really stink, even in the fantasyland that most americans live in. What we have now, that we didn't have before, is Social Security, Dan Rather fired, Gannon, Bush's bulge, 9/11 investigation, Bush/pot, Abu Graib, Iraqi leaders that don't look at all like ours, endless insurgency, and lots of soldiers dead. Add the secret flights and soldiers on ecstacy, and it gets to deep to wade through. One us soldier went down in my neighborhood today, and there was absolutely no flag waving going on.

The crap's hitting so many fans at once, from so many directions, that it's speeding up the learning curve. Their lies couldn't hold up forever. This is a good start. Bush's numbers are dropping to new lows: Mid 40's, and the anti war numbers are solid 60's now. It's turning. Now is not the time to feel defeated.

29. CIA reportedly abducting terror suspects for interrogation
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 01:34 PM by lovuian
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=cefeb9e1f6f6abcf

The CIA has been using a Boeing 737 to interrogate terror suspects as part of a global ghost prison system, this week's Newsweek reported.

Previously unpublished flight plans indicate the spy agency is operating the jetliner, and, according to earlier reports, a smaller jet, as part of a top-secret global charter for clandestine interrogation facilities used in the war on terror.

The report seems to back up claims of Khaled el-Masri, a German citizen of Lebanese descent, who says he was abducted by American operatives and in early 2004 flown to Afghanistan via a regular passenger airplane.
