Inmate Gives Birth Room With No Help
Our wonderful prison system does it again. Seems to have happened in Cleveland.
------

State corrections officers want to know why an inmate had to deliver her baby without any help.

Sarah Cabrera, 32, gave birth in her room at the Frankin Pre-Release Center after she claimed no one at the facility's clinic would help her, NewsChannel5 reported.

The inmate had complained to prison nurses that she thought she was in labor, but instead of helping, she said they sent her back to her room.

6. Why do you automatically assume that
Right-to-Lifers are OK with this? I know people who work both to help young mothers keep their babies and to improve prison conditions. What have you yourself done for prisoners' rights?

9. Yep, I like the term "fetus people" for the RW fundies -- they don't give
a *shit* about babies once they're born, nor about the women who bear them.
fuckers.

3. If they baby and or mother had died as a result of not receiving help,
would the nurses have been charged with manslaughter?

7. This article doesn't have enough information
sorry but I am inclined to wait until there is more information.

What if the nurses had timed her contractions and felt they were irregular and perhaps Braxton-Hicks and not active labor?

Granted this may be a case of indifference on the part of the nurses but before calling them inhumane monsters I would rather wait for more info...

10. Hmm...she can either get help and give birth in chains
or not get help at all. What a wonderful system!

11. Really sick and tired of hearing of people placed on PAID
administrative leave. Is it the legal system that says they must continue to be paid? I would suggest people who do shit like this be placed on suspension without pay. If it turns out they were innocent, here's your back pay.
