Actress Sandra Dee is dead at 63, her son told CNN Sunday.

Her life story is actually quite sad. :( She suffered from severe eating disorders as well. :(

5. equally sad was Bobby Darrin's life
as an adult he discovered that his "sister" was actually his mother.

He had heart problems as well, which resulted in his early death.

11. I dated a guy who had found out in his early twenties that his sister
had raised him as his "mother"; that his "grandmother" was actually his mother. I was dating him when he found out & it really messed him up emotionally. I saw him a few years ago at a midmorning recreational basketball game; we sat together &, sadly, I could smell alcohol on him. At 10am. So sad.

2. Takes some of the fun out of the song "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee."
That is much too young to go. She was talented.

7. I Used To See Her At The Bev Hills Library
every time I went there -- the last 20 years or so it's been her only outing. Still looking like a little girl, but an old little girl, so pretty and frail. She never recovered from Bobby Darin's death -- hope they are having a Dream Lover reunion right now. RIP Sandra!

8. Back in 1958 or so I would have given anything to be Sandra Dee
She seemed to have it all. Unfortunately, perceptions are deceiving.

13. It's so sad
My favorite of her movies was "A Summer Place". There was something that seemed so sweet about her.

14. Very sad...I read recently that she was working on her autobiography...
...the article also talked about how she was on dialysis, but that it was under control.

16. Very sorry to hear this.

I live near that hospital. My daughter was born there. I subsequently had emergency surgery on a broken ankle there. It is an ok suburban hospital, but not where you'd want to be if you were in really bad shape.

Not suggesting it could have made a difference in this case, but LA has world class medical facilities. This isn't one of them.
