Gingrich promises major U.N. reform
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=03549eddc3b30b0d

Big News Network.com Sunday 20th February, 2005 (UPI)

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich Saturday promised to lead the charge for major reforms in the organization and conduct of the United Nations.

Gingrich, with former U.S. Senate Democrat Leader George Mitchell, the co-chairman of a task force on U.N. reform, set out a vision for reform before delegates to the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

"I intend to bring into the room with me one simple premise," Gingrich said. "Any organization that permits Sudan to join its human rights commission while investigating genocide in that country is in need of profound and fundamental reform."

I bet one of his reforms is to deny the UN money and the US will exit stage left!!! Isn't Gingrich a has been???

1. And any politician who raises objections to anyone of any persuasion
joining any human rights commission had better make damned sure he hasn't endorsed torture by troops from his own country.

10. He's following the gameplan of Nixon and Reagan
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 10:43 PM by BlueManDude
both were out of office for a long time, laying the groundwork, building up chits among the faithful and un-encumbered by having to legislate in DC every day.

And for those who say he's washed up - no one was more washed up than Nixon after he lost the 1962 Gov race in Cali. As for the personal stuff - he's a GOPer, he gets a pass.

16. Gingrich is a disgraced sinner. Red staters are an unforgiving bunch.
Just ask Tim Hutchinson, former senator from Arkansas.

4. What about nations that invade other nations
to find WMDs when they knew full well there weren't any and fight terrorists when they knew full well that few, if any, terrorists were there? Gingrich makes a good point about Sudan and the U.N., but has he thought about what the repercussions of change at the U.N. would mean for the U.S.?

5. Maybe I'm underestimating him, but I think he will --
-- finish dead last in the Iowa Primary of his party in 2008, dead last in New Hampshire a short while later, and probably last again in South Carolina, if he's still on his feet.

After that there'll be no money to match his also having no base, meaning no chance at the White House.

He'll wind up on Fox News one of these days, blathering about the dangers of socialism.

7. Will someone enlighten me on how this bozo got back on the bus?
Last time I checked he was condemning Bill Clinton for having 'sexual relations' at the same time he was screwing his intern.

Didn't he slither off quietly into the night without any scrutiny after he nuked President Clinton for doing less than he was doing?

Is this the same Newt Gingrich we are talking about?

8. Hahahah
Sudan? Um... someone show him a map of Cuba with a little red dot indicating Gitmo... earth to Newt, your fifteen minutes were extended far too long already. Go find the 6th version of a wife or whatever it is that scum from the piles of oil fat rats do. Good god... I hope he goes after that oil for food scandal: Exxon is really in need of some reform, i agree. In fact, he might try to reform the child prositution ring used by US biz men while traveling to places like the Sudan. Wow, talk about moral values flushed into the abyss of infinite hubris, blah!!!

13. Hilarious and depressing at once
The idea of a scoundrel like Gingrich leading the reform of anything is quite silly; he is a man of neither principle nor scruple. But how black an idea when we imagine this vampire setting his teeth into the neck of the United Nations!

Mitchell, we shall recall, laid down for Reagan during Iran-Contra. That he is a collaborator with Gingrich today in this "bipartisan" exercise is no surprise: "two cozily-fused buttocks of the same giant derriere."
