Court decision on assisted suicide challenge may come soon
Feb 21, 2005, 10:24 AM MST

PORTLAND -- The US Supreme Court could announce this week whether they will hear the Bush administration's challenge to Oregon's assisted suicide law.

The administration wants to be able to punish Oregon doctors who prescribe drugs to terminally ill patients, which is permitted under state law.

In the first six years of the law, 171 terminally ill people ended their lives under the state's Death With Dignity Act. If the court rejects the appeal, the case returns to the political arena, where its future is up in the air.

2. As Sasquatch says "States Rights"
Passed by the Oregon voters, then overturned by the state legislature. Put before the voters again and passed by an even larger margin.

4. Of Course
The supreme Court will reject it. Seems as if when * wants something , they oblige quickly.
