Slovaks Choose Putin Over Bush
http://www.themoscowtimes.com/stories/2005/02/22/015.html

The Associated Press

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- More Slovaks see President Vladimir Putin as a guarantor of democracy in the world than consider U.S. President George W. Bush to be one, a poll released Monday showed.

Of 505 people interviewed by the Markant agency on Feb. 16-17, 43 percent said they viewed Putin as the guarantor of democracy in the world, and only 35.9 percent said they thought of Bush in that way.

No margin of error was given in the poll, which was conducted for daily Sme.

6. Slovaks unconvinced on Bush and democracy
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=1a19766f18db3d96

Big News Network.com Monday 21st February, 2005 (UPI)

U.S. President George W. Bush is seen in Slovakia as less of a guarantor of democracy than Russian President Vladimir Putin, an opinion poll suggested Monday.

The poll, which comes just four days before Bush and Putin hold a summit in the Slovak capital Bratislava, found that 43 percent rated the Russian president as a guarantor of democracy, while just 36 percent offered the same view of Bush.

Analysts said the results of the poll would be taken as bad news by the Bush administration, which wanted Slovakia as the location of the summit because of the country's spectacular successes in building a strong democracy and a vibrant economy.
