http://www.gateway2russia.com/st/art_269542.phpRussian Federation President Vladimir Putin believes there are substantial resources for the development of the Russian defence industry. "Our country has a firm place in the top five leading world exporters of military output," Putin said at a session of the Military-Technical Cooperation Commission today.
"Considerable potential resources for the further development of the Russian defence industry complex are also evident," he believes. "At stake is a tangible financial profit."
The president declared that "alongside the strengthening of the standing of domestic producers in traditional markets, entering new arms markets and increasing the competitiveness of output are the tasks we continue to face". He recalled that in 2004 Russia managed to increase the volume of deliveries of military-purpose output by 200m dollars and overall it will top the 5.7bn-dollar mark.
"Serious attention should be devoted to the search for new sales markets," he believes. "Russian producers must be more active in advertising their products and services."
