MADRID, Feb 21 (Reuters) - A Spanish court has issued an international arrest warrant for .. Romeo Lucas Garcia, .. president in 1980 when Guatemalan forces stormed the Spanish embassy in search of leftist insurgents.

Thirty-seven .. died ... Three survived ...

Around 10 others are charged .. including Guatemala's former interior minister, Donaldo Alvarez Ruiz, .. sought .. from Mexico but .. on the run ...

Guatemalan rights workers said the ruling was a welcome sign that abuses .., .. often .. unpunished, can .. be prosecuted with help from abroad ...

1. A Particular Villain

Romeo Lucas Garcia was one of the bloodier Guatemalan chiefs of state during that unfortunate country's long, bloody civil war. I'm glad that somebody's going after him (Although I expect the Wall Street thingie will undoubtedly have a long op-ed piece praising his so-called "virtues" to the skies and lamenting his "persecution" by "leftists.").

I'm a religious believer who believes in divine justice, but I hope we get at least a little temporal justice in our lifetimes.
