GAO study says 1/3 of Res. & N.G. no pay or health benefits!
I just heard on NPR that the GAO just released findings on a study that looked at 900 "random" cases of soldiers returning from active duty, of the 900 a full 300 or 1/3 experienced problems with pay or healthcare coverage. Republican Rep. Davis says this needs to change.

Didn't Kerry bring this up during his campaign only to be lambasted by Republicans as spreading lies?

1. I heard this story, too--it's a major freaking scandal.
Support Our Troops, my ass. Bushco and the right are SO full of shit--maybe this issue will waft a little of the stench out to the red states.

Y'know, my sense is that it's not going to be a single scandal that destroys Bush--it's going to be a slow accumulation of resentment, as all the people who were distracted by the three Gs start to realize how thoroughly they're getting screwed. Bush ran twice as a moderate, but he's running the country as a radical right ideologue--the arrogance and deception with which they've treated the Social Security issue have, I think, really taken a lot of Americans aback--even people who voted for them. Call me a wild-eyed optimist, but I think we're looking at the beginning of the rebirth of the old-line Democratic coalition here: working class+liberal bourgeoisie, but this time with big majorities of the African American and Latino vote thrown in.

In the meantime, can we take up a collection for all the Reservists and Guard who are getting screwed by their government? I'd happily contribute.

3. Nothing IS Going to Destroy Bush
His supporters are still marching in lockstep behind him, you see very little dissent being reported by the "media", and according to
most rumors the military will do his bidding, even after stories like these come out.

He's screwing over the Guard and Reserves, he wants to cut the VA budget and veterans benefits, and yet the military still supports him, maybe not all, but enough of them do.

It's too late for the suckers who voted for him on "family values", because he failed to tell them it was his family that he was concerned with, not theirs. The sheep got what they wanted, right.?

5. yeah it is kinda freaky isn't it. One issue after another every single
thing that Kerry ran on, one after the other is coming to light and the Republican senators and reps are acting like they never heard this info before? How long can the charade last the the American people elected Bush? Approval ratings are abyssmal, he couldn't even get 2000 people to an event on his Social Security tour with free tickets yet! And Kerry was drawing crowds of 30-50,000! Hey America, wake up and smell the coffee, who needs exit polls when you have common sense proof like this?

4. That's the way the GOP and Bush support our troops.
Send them into a bogus war for oil and when they are wounded and no longer able to fight, cut off their benefits.
