Boeing wants to get out of the "parts manufacturing" business and just do design and assembly. At one time their building was one of the largest in the world, it's over a mile long...

1. As long as they do not relocate any jobs abroad this is not all bad.

The purchase of domestic capital (which includes buildings) by foreign buyers is something that is actually desirable when speaking in economic terms. It is called "foreign direct investment", and also drives up the value of US currency.

If, however, the foreign firm closes the plant and moves the jobs elsewhere, that's bad. But if they were going to do that, why did they buy the whole facility and not just patents, records etc?

Not as bad as if the plant were closing, but it is a transfer of more U.S. assets abroad. Selling off assets is not a sustainable strategy for maintaining the value of our currency.

Yeah, it's huge. Hope this doesn't lead to layoffs. After Williams, I don't think Tulsa could handle another round of major layoffs.

be like halliburton and ask the feds for a handout... production is expensive, begging and political wrangling is cheap.
