I don't know about you, but this story kind of irritates me.

Gas company fined $4,900 in blast that killed two workers

The Associated Press

A gas company where two men died in an explosion in October has been fined $4,900 for safety violations.

Steve Jackson and Gary Garner were installing a computer system on a propane-delivery truck parked inside Jenkins Gas and Oil Inc. on Oct. 14 when the explosion happened, company president John Robert Mattocks has said.

(snip)

They were using a battery-operated drill to remove a broken bolt from the rear of the truck, according to a citation from the state Department of Labor Division of Safety and Health.

"It was one of those situations that had been done a number of times and somehow under certain circumstances (the gas ignited)," Mattocks said.

The blast destroyed the building and five trucks.

1. Somehow the gas ignited?
And they were fined this small amount while two workers lost their lives? We must have a two term GOP president in office. Republicans have always felt that employees/workers were only a necessary slime ingredient to produce profits for employers.

2. OSHA has not been

that effective even under Dem presidents.
Germany was shocked at France's work accidents, but compared to the U$ ... very very small. Workers are better trained and Unions can raise ruckuses and Joe Six-Pack will agree with them as opposed to here in the U$.
Also in Europe CEO's, etc. can be and are sent to prison and not just given puny fines.

3. Carelessness of the employer caused the deaths of two lives
and the employer is fined $4,900. Sounds GOP to me.

4. Was privy to something that
happened under Clinton. The company was not even fined. Let's say that the recent Dems have become very GOP or don't have a spine and the Murikan people are clueless.

5. How long can you blame Clinton?
Bush has been in office four years. Let's hold him accountable.

6. I'm not blaming Clinton
anymore than any other Prez. but since Raygun, proper OSHA enforcenemt has not occurred under the Executive Branch and I am sorry to say that Clinton did not change the tendency. WAKE UP! And I hope you don't work in a job that is safety critical!

Should Clinton or Bush be held accountable? When is Clinton relieved?
