Bomb Attacks Kill 3, Wounds 14 in Iraq (2 US Soldiers Killed)

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A car bomb killed two people and wounded 14 in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Wednesday, and a U.S. soldier was killed in a separate bomb attack north of Baghdad, officials said.

The violence came a day after Iraq (news - web sites)'s dominant Shiite political party chose Ibrahim al-Jaafari, the head of a religious party who fought Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) and took refuge in Iran for a decade, as its candidate for prime minister — making him the overwhelming favorite for the post.

Wednesday's car bomb took place in western Mosul, said Essam Youssef of the city's Jamhouri hospital, where some of the casualties were brought. It was not immediately clear what the target of the bomb was. Witnesses said no U.S. or Iraqi forces in the area where the explosion took place.

Also in Mosul, U.S. soldiers shot dead a civilian in a pickup truck who approached their convoy too closely as he was trying to pass it, policeman Ahmed Rashid said. Weary of car bombs, most U.S. military vehicles carry signs warning drivers to keep away.

3. First, it was the media cannot show the caskets.
Now they cannot or will not mention the war dead. But MSM continues to blare every pregnant-woman death, car crash fatalities, and weather-related deaths. It's like the Iraq war is over and we're at peace now (thanks to Bush of course).

5. 1500 paid with their lives for a leader with Iranian ties to take over for
Saddam. Excuse me, but is this what we paid all those lives and billions of dollars for? I predict this guy consolidates power, imposes strict laws on WOMEN and is some how reelected PM every election.

9. The US-State-controlled-corporate-media
are playing by the script. Remember, leading up to the Iraqi elections the talking points that the White House gave the US-State-controlled-corporate-media was that there would be an upsurge of violence.

However, the day of the elections, the talking points were now what a great victory for the Iraqi people ... and Idiot-King Bush.

So ... now ... the talking points are to simply stop talking about the war in Iraq, and to not report on the casualties. If they do, it's a five second blurb and on to the Jacko story.

On The Today Show (alias the eternal Junior High level commentary) one of the lead-in stories was about Matt Lauer taking out the garbage. No shit! I kid you not.

The more banal the US-State-controlled-corporate-media becomes, is a good indicator, if not a sure sign, on how bad things are really getting. If you see an anchor person or a talking head forcing out those gleeful smiles through the course of their broadcasts, you know they were just recently plugged by Rove up the proverbial you know what, and the state of the Union equates to shit hitting the fan.
